Arizona is an unincorporated community in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, United States. [1] Arizona is located at 32°47′21″N92°57′28″W / 32.78917°N 92.95778°W / 32.78917; -92.95778

History

Arizona was founded in the 1860s [2] and was named after the Arizona Territory. [3] [4]

G. L. P. Wren, a member of both houses of the Louisiana State Legislature during the 19th century, taught school in Arizona prior to the American Civil War. [5]

The Arizona Methodist Church building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Homer is a town in and the parish seat of Claiborne Parish in northern Louisiana, United States. Named for the Greek poet Homer, the town was laid out around the Courthouse Square in 1850 by Frank Vaughn. The present-day brick courthouse, built in the Greek Revival style of architecture, is one of only four pre-Civil War courthouses in Louisiana still in use. The building, completed in 1860, was accepted by the Claiborne Parish Police Jury on July 20, 1861, at a cost of $12,304.36, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The other courthouses are in St. Francisville, St. Martinville and Thibodaux.

Obregon was a mining town in the Cargo Muchacho Mountains located near the American Girl Mine. The town was abandoned in 1939, when the mine was closed.

Stahl is an unincorporated community in northwest Adair County, Missouri, United States. The community is on Missouri Route O about six miles northwest of Novinger and 12 miles northwest of Kirksville. There are only three houses at Stahl, and an abandoned car dump along the highway. The Union Ridge Conservation Area lies to the west about two miles and Spring Creek flows past the community to its confluence with the Chariton River south of Novinger.
