Array Networks is an American networking hardware company. It sells network traffic encryption tools. [1]

Array Networks was founded in 2000 by Lawrence Lu and is based in Milpitas, California. [2] Originally called ClickArray Networks, it was renamed Array Networks in 2001 by then-incoming CEO Don Massaro who said the longer name "sounded too dot-commy". [3] It received funding from the venture capital firm U.S. Venture Partners and the private equity firm H&Q Asia Pacific. [4]

On May 13, 2009, [1] Array Networks became the first non-Taiwan company to be listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. [5] The company sold 54 million shares that had a total value of about $79 million. [1] In 2009, 43% of the company's market share was in China, and its main product type sold there consisted of SSL VPN devices. It also had 200 employees in China, which CEO Michael Zhao said made China a "natural choice" for an IPO, [1] In comparison, the company had 70 employees in Silicon Valley. [4] but because China did not allow non-Chinese companies on their exchange, he narrowed the choices down to the NASDAQ and the Taiwan Stock Exchange. He chose the Taiwan Stock Exchange for two reasons: Array Networks had a strong business presence in Asia, and Taiwan Stock Exchange's listing fees were at least one third less than the NASDAQ's. In 2011, CRN Magazine noted that most of Array Networks' sales is from Asia and that the company is "particularly strong" in China, Japan, and India. [2]

In 2023 Array Networks Partnered with Aircom Global Limited, a company with operations in Tanzania. [6]

Products

APV series application delivery controllers

In 2008, Array Networks first released its AppVelocity devices that consisted of application delivery controllers for SSL acceleration, load balancing and traffic managementat layers 2-7 for enterprise data centers and Web sites. [7] Later devices were introduced in 2013, [8] 2014, [9] and 2015. [10]

AG series VPN gateways

Array sells VPN gateways. [11]

Remote Desktop Access

Array sells DesktopDirect which enables remote desktop access in a web browser. [12]

Secure Mobile Access

Array sells MotionPro, a product for remote desktop access via personal mobile devices. [13]

aCelera WAN optimization controller

In March 2013, Array acquired the assets of WOC pioneer Certeon, including development and support operations, [14] and software-based WAN optimization products including the aCelera Virtual Appliance, aCelera for Windows Server and aCelera Mobile. [15]

The aCelera appliance can be used to accelerate application traffic for Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Dell, file transfers, backup and replication and others. [16]

In 2015 Gartner estimated the WAN optimization market to be a $1.1 billion market.

Packeteer, Inc., founded in 1996 by Robert Packer, Brett Galloway and Bob Luxenberg was an I.T. company based in Cupertino, California that was listed on the NASDAQ. Networking appliances focus on Application Traffic Management and optimization for wide area networks. They held at least 40 patents for various network optimization methods. Packeteer was acquired by Blue Coat Systems in 2008.

NetScaler is a line of networking products owned by Cloud Software Group. The products consist of NetScaler, an application delivery controller (ADC), NetScaler AppFirewall, an application firewall, NetScaler Unified Gateway, NetScaler Application Delivery Management (ADM), and NetScaler SD-WAN, which provides software-defined wide-area networking management. NetScaler was initially developed in 1997 by Michel K Susai and acquired by Citrix Systems in 2005. Citrix consolidated all of its networking products under the NetScaler brand in 2016. On September 30, 2022, when Citrix was taken private as part of the merger with TIBCO Software, NetScaler was formed as a business unit under the Cloud Software Group.

A secure access service edge (SASE) is technology used to deliver wide area network (WAN) and security controls as a cloud computing service directly to the source of connection rather than a data center. It uses cloud and edge computing technologies to reduce the latency that results from backhauling all WAN traffic over long distances to one or a few corporate data centers, due to the increased movement off-premises of dispersed users and their applications. This also helps organizations support dispersed users and their devices with digital transformation and application modernization initiatives.
