The 3 arrondissements of the Vosges department are: [1]

  1. Arrondissement of Épinal, (prefecture of the Vosges department: Épinal) with 236 communes. [2] The population of the arrondissement was 204,222 in 2016.
  2. Arrondissement of Neufchâteau, (subprefecture: Neufchâteau) with 175 communes. [3] The population of the arrondissement was 53,669 in 2016.
  3. Arrondissement of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, (subprefecture: Saint-Dié-des-Vosges) with 96 communes. [4] The population of the arrondissement was 111,750 in 2016.

History

In 1800 the arrondissements of Épinal, Mirecourt, Neufchâteau, Remiremont and Saint-Dié were established. The arrondissements of Mirecourt and Remiremont were disbanded in 1926. [5] In January 2013 the two cantons of Darney and Monthureux-sur-Saône passed from the arrondissement of Épinal to the arrondissement of Neufchâteau.

Remiremont has got a police station, which covers the city and his suburban area. The fire station realizes more than 2000 interventions per year. Remiremont is also known as the La Belle des Vosges.

Tendon is a commune in the Vosges area of Grand Est in northeastern France. Its inhabitants are known as Todas, there is a village and around 60 settlements in the area. The history of the area dates back to the middle ages.

The Maquis des Vosges were groups of French resistance fighters in the Department of the Vosges during the Second World War. They were associated through an amalgamation of different resistance groups roughly when the Conseil national de la Résistance was created on 27 May 1943. Maquis shrubland is a Mediterranean biome of dense scrub, which provided the guerrillas with cover.

The Communauté de communes de la Porte des Vosges Méridionales is an administrative association of rural communes in the Vosges department of eastern France. It was created on 1 January 2017 by the merger of the former Communauté de communes de la Porte des Hautes-Vosges, Communauté de communes des Vosges Méridionales and the commune Saint-Amé. It consists of 10 communes, and has its administrative offices at Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont. Its area is 262.8 km2, and its population was 29,262 in 2019.
