The Nationalist Congress Party is one of the state parties in India. It refers to the Ajit Pawar faction after the 2023 split in the party when the SC granted the original party name and symbol to the Nationalist Congress Party. It was one of the major political parties in Maharashtra and was a recognised state party in Nagaland and Kerala. In July 2023,majority of the elected MLAs and MLCs of the party led by Ajit Pawar joined the National Democratic Alliance government,however,all MPs except two are expected to remain loyal to Sharad Pawar. This caused a direct split between the Ajit Pawar-led faction and the founder and president Sharad Pawar who formed the Nationalist Congress Party after EC recognised the Ajit Pawar faction as the original party.

Akhil Bharatiya Sena is a political party founded in 1997 in Mumbai,Maharashtra by Arun Gawli. Gawli had earlier been close to the Shiv Sena supremo,Bal Thackeray,but in 1996 a bloody feud surged between them when Arun Gawli mercilessly slew several Sena party legislators and party workers. Gawli then formed a separate party.
The Bombay riots were a series of riots that took place in Bombay,Maharashtra,between December 1992 and January 1993. An estimated 900 people,predominantly Muslims,were killed. Akhil Bharatiya Kamgar Sena is a trade union centre in Maharashtra,India. ABKS is the labour wing of the Akhil Bharatiya Sena of Arun Gawli. Gawli is the president of ABKS. At the time of its foundation,ABKS claimed a membership of 50 000. Soon after the launching of ABKS,the new union was able to take over some workplace unions previously run by Bharatiya Kamgar Sena or Maharashtra General Kamgar Union,in companies like Oberoi Hotels and the Tata Cancer Hospital. ABKS was able to establish a foothold amongst the employees at National Rayon,Reliance and public sector units like SICOM and IRCON.
Vijay Salaskar,AC was an Indian police inspector and encounter specialist with the Mumbai police. He was widely credited with killing 75–80 criminals in encounters –most of these were members of the Arun Gawli gang. Salaskar was killed while fighting terrorists in the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. Captured terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab claimed responsibility for the killing. Before his death Salaskar was head of the Anti-Extortion Cell,Mumbai. His patriotism and bravery was honoured with the Ashoka Chakra on 26 January 2009.
The 1991 Lokhandwala Complex shootout was a gunbattle that occurred on 16 November 1991 at the Lokhandwala Complex,Mumbai,between seven gangsters led by Maya Dolas and members of the Bombay Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) led by the then Additional Commissioner of Police,A. A. Khan. The four-hour-long shootout was termed as India's "first daylight encounter" and was videographed and conducted in full view of the public. It ended in the deaths of all seven gangsters,including Maya Dolas,Dilip Buwa and Anil Pawar.

It was first published by HarperCollins in February 2014. The book is a sequel to Dongri to Dubai. Hussain completed the story that was left unfinished in his earlier book by including the story of the "local lads" of the infamous mobster Dawood Ibrahim. The book deals primarily with three of the mobsters of Mumbai:Chota Rajan,Arun Gawli and Ashwin Naik. The film adaptation is owned by Ram Gopal Varma and Red Chillies Entertainment.

Arup Patnaik is a retired Indian Police Service officer who was the 36th Police Commissioner of Mumbai. He is revered as one of the most dynamic and respected IPS officers of the Maharashtra cadre. He retired on 30 September 2015 after a distinguished career in the Maharashtra Police spanning over 36 years in service.
