Ashley Ann Owusu (born January 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who is a free agent. She was selected by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA draft. She played college basketball at Maryland, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
Owusu was thrust into a leadership role in her sophomore season after five seniors graduated and three players transferred out of the program. [1] She scored her then-career high of 25 points in a game against Towson, breaking it less than a month later with a 34-point performance against Penn State. [2]
In addition to being named a third-team All-American, Owusu was also named the recipient of the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, awarded to the top college basketball shooting guard in the country. [3] [4] She was named the most outstanding player of the 2020 Big Ten women's basketball tournament.
On May 4, 2022, Virginia Tech head coach Kenny Brooks announced that his team had added Owusu to their team with two years of eligibility remaining. [5]
After losing her starting spot at Virginia Tech and playing very limited minutes in the second half of the season, Owusu announced on June 1, 2023 that she was transferring to Penn State. [6]
Owusu was drafted with the ninth pick in the third round (33 overall) of the 2024 WNBA draft by the Dallas Wings. [7] On 5 May 2024, Owusu was waived by the Chicago Sky. [8] [9]
Owusu accepted an invite to attend AmeriCup trials for the United States national team in 2021. [10]

Dawn Michelle Staley is an American basketball Hall of Fame player and coach who is currently the head coach for the reigning champion South Carolina Gamecocks women's team. Staley won three Olympic gold medals with Team USA as a player and later was head coach of another U.S. gold-medal winning team. Staley was elected to carry the United States flag at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics. After playing point guard for the University of Virginia under Debbie Ryan, and winning the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics, she played professionally in the American Basketball League and WNBA. In 2011, fans named Staley one of the top 15 players in WNBA history. Staley was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. She was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Alyssa Thomas is an American professional basketball forward for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins. The New York Liberty drafted Thomas 4th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft, and immediately traded her to the Sun along with Kelsey Bone and a 2015 first-round draft pick in exchange for Tina Charles. Thomas is the University of Maryland's all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles for both the women's and men's programs, and one of only three athletes in NCAAW history with six career triple-doubles. In the WNBA, Thomas recorded twelve career triple-doubles. She is one of four players to record 15+, 15+, 10+ with 0 turnovers, the only WNBA player to do so ever.
