The Ateneo Football Club was an association football club based in Quezon City in the Philippines. It was associated with the Ateneo de Manila University and the Ateneo Football Center.

The club was founded on March 1, 2004. [1]

The Jesuits renamed the school to "Ateneo de Davao" after taking control. The Jesuits were naming all the schools that they were opening at that time Ateneo. Ateneo de Davao is the seventh school in the country to be named as Ateneo by the Jesuits. The university has five undergraduate schools, namely the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and Governance, School of Engineering and Architecture, School of Education and the School of Nursing. The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines. The collegiate women's varsity basketball team is called the Lady Eagles. The Ateneo collegiate men's varsity basketball team was not always called the Blue Eagles. It got the name Blue Eagles when Ateneo adopted the Eagle as its mascot in 1938. Prior to that, from 1914 it was known under different names. Beginning with UAAP Season 84 in May 2022, Ateneo de Manila University officially decided to unify student athletes and varsity teams under the "Blue Eagles" moniker, regardless of sport, gender, or age group. Ateneo has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, its mother league. Twenty five years after playing their last game as Blue Eagles, the Board of Directors of the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame review their playing years as Blue Eagles. Those who meet the criteria are inducted into the Ateneo Sports Hall of Fame.

The University Belt is the name of a de facto subdistrict in Manila, Philippines. It refers to the area where there is a high concentration of colleges and universities in the city. UAAP Season 78 was the 2015–2016 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The Tuloy Football Club is a professional football club based in Alabang, Muntinlupa, Philippines. Their women's side competes at the PFF Women's League, the top flight women's football league in the Philippines, debuting in 2018.

The 2022 PFF Women's Cup is the 3rd edition of the cup competition. This edition marks the return of competitive women's football in the Philippines, with the PFF Women's League last held in 2019–20. No women's tournament had been held since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This also marks the return on the women's cup itself which was last held in 2015.
