Andrew Louw is a South African politician who served as Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2014 until 2021. He was the Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance in the Northern Cape from 2009 to 2020. He was previously a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa where he served as the Shadow Minister of Labour. Louw was the Democratic Alliance's Northern Cape Premier candidate for the 2014 and 2019 elections.

Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane is a South African politician who has been serving as the 7th Premier of the Eastern Cape since May 2019. He became a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in February 2018. A member of the African National Congress, he has been serving as the Provincial Chairperson of the party since his election in October 2017. From May 2018 to May 2019, he served as the Eastern Cape MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism.
The 2021 South African municipal elections were held on 1 November 2021, to elect councils for all district, metropolitan and local municipalities in each of the country's nine provinces. It is the sixth municipal election held in South Africa since the end of apartheid in 1994, held every five years. The previous municipal elections were held in 2016. On 21 April 2021, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the elections will be held on Wednesday, 27 October 2021. It had been recommend by Dikgang Moseneke to delay the municipal elections until 2022. The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) requested the Constitutional Court to support the date postponement. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supported the date postponement while the Democratic Alliance (DA) was against the postponement of the date. The Constitutional Court dismissed the application to postpone the date until 2022, ruling that they had to take place between 27 October and 1 November. On 9 September 2021, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma announced that the elections would be held on 1 November.
Melikhaya Xego is a South African politician. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), he has been serving as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 22 May 2019. He is the Provincial Chairperson of the party.
Bentley Gavin Vass is a South African politician who has been the Northern Cape MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs since February 2018. Babalo Madikizela is a South African urban planner and politician who served as the Eastern Cape MEC for Public Works from May 2019 to July 2022 and as a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from November 2018 to August 2022. Madikizela served as the provincial treasurer of the African National Congress (ANC) from October 2017 to May 2022.
Mosimanegare Kenneth Mmoiemang is a South African politician who has been a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since May 2019. He is a member of the Northern Cape delegation. He was the provincial MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from 2009 to 2013 and the speaker of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2013 to 2019. Gerald Mlungisi Mvoko is a South African businessman and politician serving as the Eastern Cape MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Environmental Affairs since May 2019. He has been a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since February 2018. Mvoko is the deputy provincial chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC). He held two posts in the province's Executive Council before being appointed to his current position.
Alexandra Jennifer Beukes is a South African politician who has been a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 12 June 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly, she was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the mayor of the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality. Beukes is a member of the African National Congress.
Pauline Jeanette Williams is a retired South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, she was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2004. In 2009, she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport, Arts and Culture. She left the legislature in 2014, only for her to return in 2015. She was then made MEC for Transport, Liaison and Safety in 2016. Williams was briefly out of the post in May 2017. In February 2018, she was made the MEC for Environmental Affairs. Williams left the legislature again in 2019.
The 2019 Eastern Cape provincial election was held on 8 May 2019, concurrently with the 2019 South African general election, to elect the 63 members of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature. The election was won by the African National Congress, the incumbent governing party in the province.
