Avani Bharat Kumar Panchal (born 31 August 1991) is an Indian figure and roller skater. She hails from Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She won a bronze medal at 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China in Pairs Skating with her partner Anup Kumar Yama. [1] [2]

Education

Avani has a Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech) degree from Andhra University. She studied Computer Science and Engineering in Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology and Sciences (ANITS), Sangivalasa in Vishakapatnam. She graduated in 2013. [3]

Sushil Kumar is a former Indian wrestler. He carried the Indian flag at the opening ceremony of 2012 London Olympics. His 2008 Olympic medal was only the second for India in wrestling, and the first since Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav's bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics. In July 2009, he received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna – India's highest honour for sportspersons. On 3 October 2010, Kumar handed the Queen's Baton to Prince Charles in the Queen's Baton Relay for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Gymnastics came of age in India, when at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Ashish Kumar won the first-ever medal in gymnastics, he won a bronze medal. However, soon after the win, the President of the Gymnastics Federation of India asked Ashish's Chief Coach from the Soviet Union, Vladimir Chertkov: "Is this all that you can deliver, a bronze?" Suma Shirur is a former Indian shooter who competed in the 10 metre air rifle event. She is a joint world record holder in the event, having scored the maximum of 400 points in the qualification round, which she achieved at the 2004 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuala Lumpur. In 2003, she was awarded the Arjuna Award by the government of India. She is currently the High Performance Coach of the Indian Jr. Rifle Shooting Team. India competed in the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Indian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since 1984, though they made their official debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics. This was India's most successful Paralympic season with 5 golds 8 silvers and 6 bronzes. Before this edition, India had won 12 medals of all previous Paralympics appearances combined.

Dhanush Babu is an Indian speed skater. Most recently, Babu represented India in the 2019 World Roller Games held in Spain from 4 to 14 July 2019. He was the first Indian to secure an international roller skating medal for India in 2016 at the Asian Speed Skating Championship and to finish fifth in the 500+D event on the track in 2019.

Rayudu Arun Kumar is an Indian artistic roller skater from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He is an Asian Silver Medallist, ranked Asian No.2 in the senior category and was world No.5 in the under-19 category. He has been a national champion for the last 13 years. He has been playing for Team India since 2014. He has also been the All India Inter-University Champion for three years. He is considered to be one of the best figure skaters in India. He has been the captain of the Andhra Pradesh Roller Skating Team since 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Avani Lekhara</span> Indian rifle shooter and Paralympic medalist

Avani Lekhara is an Indian Paralympian and rifle shooter from Rajasthan. She won a gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing and a bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. As of January 2023, Lekhara is ranked world no. 1 in Women's 10m Air Rifle standing SH1 and has competed in the 2018 Asian Para Games. She has been supported by GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme. She is also the first Indian woman to win multiple medals in a single Paralympic Games. She has been given out of turn appointment as Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) by the Government of Rajasthan.
