The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a football club competition contested annually by the most recent winners of all European domestic cup competitions. The cup was one of the many inter-European club competitions that have been organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The first competition was held in the 1960–61 season, but the Cup was not recognised by the governing body of European football until October 1963. The tournament ran for 39 seasons with its final edition held in 1998–1999, after which it was absorbed into the UEFA Cup.

The 2011–12 Copa del Rey was the 110th staging of the Copa del Rey. The competition began on 31 August 2011 and ended on 25 May 2012 with the final, which was held at the Vicente Calderón Stadium in Madrid. Real Madrid were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Barcelona in the quarter-finals, who went on to win the title.
The 1989–90 FIBA Women's European Champions Cup was the 32nd edition of FIBA Europe's competition for national champions women's basketball clubs, running from September 1989 to 29 March 1990. Libertas Trogylos Basket defeated 1989 Ronchetti Cup champion CSKA Moscow in the final, played in Cesena, to become the fourth Italian club to win the competition. Red Star Belgrade and BAC Mirande were third and fourth respectively.
Marina Ferragut Castillo is a Spanish former basketball player who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics and in the 2004 Summer Olympics, achieving a total of 253 caps for the national team. She played in the WNBA at the New York Liberty during the 2000 season. She played on 253 occasions with the Spanish National team. She retired in 2011.

The 1988–89 FIBA Women's European Champions Cup was the 31st edition of FIBA Europe's competition for national champions women's basketball clubs, running from September 1988 to 22 March 1989. The final featured clash between earlier 1987-88 season reigning champion Primigi Vicenza from Viceza (Italy) and third place Jedinstvo Aida from Tuzla. Jedinstvo Aida won a final game played in Florence for the first time in club's history, to become the second YU club to win the competition. Dynamo Novosibirsk and Astarac Mirande came third and fourth respectively.
