Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation is the national federation for Kabaddi and is responsible for governing the sport in Bangladesh. [1] [2] Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion, is the President of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation [3] and General secretary is Dhaka Range DIG of Bangladesh Police Habibur Rahman. [4] [5] [6] [7] DIG of police Mozammel Haque is the joint secretary of the current committee. [8]

History

Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation was established in 1973 as the Bangladesh Amateur Kabadi Federation. It held the first international match against India in 1973. In 1978, it joined the Asian Amateur Kabadi Federation as a founding member. The 1990, Asian Games were the first to have Kabaddi in them. Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation organizes the National Kabadi Competition. [9]

Kabaddi Contact team sport popular in South Asia

Kabaddi is a contact team sport. Played between two teams of seven players, the objective of the game is for a single player on offence, referred to as a "raider", to run into the opposing team's half of a court, touch out as many of their defenders as possible, and return to their own half of the court, all without being tackled by the defenders, and in a single breath. Points are scored for each player tagged by the raider, while the opposing team earns a point for stopping the raider. Players are taken out of the game if they are touched or tackled, but are brought back in for each point scored by their team from a tag or tackle.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Founder and First President of Bangladesh (1920–1975)

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, often shortened as Sheikh Mujib or Mujib and widely known as Bangabandhu was a Bangladeshi politician, statesman and Founding Father of Bangladesh who served as the first President and later as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from April 1971 until his assassination in August 1975. Mujib is credited with leading the successful campaign for Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan. He is revered in Bangladesh with the honourific title of "Bangabandhu" which is used around the world. He was a founding member and eventual leader of the Awami League, founded in 1949 as an East Pakistan–based political party in Pakistan. Mujib is considered to have been a fundamental figure in the efforts to gain political autonomy for East Pakistan and later as the central figure behind the Bangladesh Liberation Movement and the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Thus, he is regarded as the "Jatir Janak" or "Jatir Pita" of Bangladesh. His daughter Sheikh Hasina is the current leader of the Awami League and currently serves as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party Centre-right political party in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a centre-right to right-wing nationalist political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by former Bangladeshi President Ziaur Rahman after the Presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting the people with a nationalist ideology. Since then, the BNP won the second, fifth, sixth and eighth national elections and two Presidential elections in 1978 and 1981. The party also holds the record of being the largest opposition in the history of parliamentary elections of the country, with 116 seats in the seventh national election of June 1996. It has currently 7 MPs in parliament after 2018 national election.

Muhammad Habibur Rahman Bangladeshi politician

Muhammad Habibur Rahman was a Chief Justice of Bangladesh Supreme Court in 1995. He was the Chief Adviser of the 1996 caretaker government which oversaw the Seventh parliamentary elections in Bangladesh. He was a faculty member at the Department of Law, University of Rajshahi and University of Dhaka. Besides, being a language activist, advocate of the Bengali language, he wrote extensively and published eight books on the subject. He played a significant role to implement Bengali in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. He wrote Jathashabdo (1974), the first thesaurus in the Bengali language.

Kabaddi, is a contact sport, native to the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the most popular sports in India, played mainly among people in villages. India has taken part in four Asian Games in kabaddi, and won gold in all of them. Four forms of kabaddi played in India are Amar, Suranjeevi, huttuttoo, and Gaminee. Amar is generally played in Punjab, Haryana, the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world, mostly by Punjabi sportsmen. Suranjeevi is the most played form of kabaddi in India and the world. This is the form used in international matches generally and played in Asian Games. Huttuttoo was played by men in Maharashtra. In Gaminee style, seven players play on each side and a player put out has to remain out until all his team members are out. The team that is successful in outing all the players of the opponent's side secures a point. The game continues until five or seven such points are secured and has no fixed time duration.

Bangladesh is one of the top 10 cricketing nation of the world and have regularly qualified for World cup since 1999, the Country achieved arguably their greatest heights in Cricket when they defeated three of top-rated teams in 2015 Cricket World Cup to qualify for the quarterfinals. In 2015, they white-washed Pakistan and clinched the series by 3-0 and in another major achievement they won a series against India by 2-1 and in the same year they beat South Africa 2–1 in an ODI series and cemented their spot in Champions Trophy 2017. Traditional sports like Athletics, Swimming, Ha-du-du, Boli Khela, Lathi Khela are mostly played in the rural areas while foreign sports like hockey, volleyball, handball, golf etc. are more popular among the urban folks. The National Sports Council (NSC) is the governing body to control all the sports federations and councils in the country and is responsible to the ministry of youth and sports. There are a total of 42 different sports federations affiliated with the NSC. Bangladesh Games is the largest domestic multi-sport tournament in the country where athletes and sports teams from all the districts participate.

Habibur Rahman is a Bangladeshi police officer. He is currently Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police. He currently holds office of Dhaka Range DIG at Bangladesh police, Dhaka Before it he was DIG of Administration and Discipline at Police Headquarters, Dhaka. He is also the General secretary of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and Vice president of International Kabaddi Federation. Habibur Rahman, also known by his daak naam Tota Mia, was a Bangladeshi politician and lawyer. He was a part of the Awami League and was a former Member of Parliament for the Sylhet-9 constituency.

Habibur Rahman Sohag is a Bangladeshi footballer who plays for Bangladeshi club Sheikh Russel KC and the Bangladesh national team. A versatile player, Sohag played in multiple roles, including central midfielder and attacking midfielder, but currently plays as a centre-back or defensive midfielder.
