The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh. It was founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman, after the presidential election of 1978, with a view of uniting people with a nationalist ideology. Following Rahman's assassination in 1981, his widow, Khaleda Zia, took over leadership of the party and presided as chairperson until her imprisonment, in 2018. Since then, Tarique Rahman, the son of Rahman and Zia, has served as acting chairperson and has run the affairs of the party from London.

Shahbagh is a major neighbourhood and a police precinct or thana in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is also a major public transport hub. It is a junction between two contrasting sections of the city—Old Dhaka and New Dhaka—which lie, respectively, to its south and north. Developed in the 17th century during Mughal rule in Bengal, when Old Dhaka was the provincial capital and a centre of the flourishing muslin industry, it came to neglect and decay in early 19th century. In the mid-19th century, the Shahbagh area was developed as New Dhaka became a provincial centre of the British Raj, ending a century of decline brought on by the passing of Mughal rule.
Sholakia is a locality near Kishoreganj town in Bangladesh. It is famous for its Eidgah where the largest congregation of Eid prayer in Bangladesh is held on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, the day of celebration after the Ramadan, the month of fasting. 400,000 people join the prayer on every Eid. The Eidgah, on the bank of river Narosunda is reported to be 7 acres (2.8 ha) in size, accommodating 250 rows or about 150,000 of participants for every congregation. An equal number of participants take part in the prayer using the fields, roads and courtyards around the Eidgah.
Narsingdi /Narsingdi Sadar is a city and headquarters of Narsingdi District in the division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Dhaka-Sylhet highway connects Narsingdi with the capital and other major cities. The district is located between 24.1344° N and 90.7860° E. Surrounded by Tarowa on the north, Hazipur on the east, the Meghna River on the south, and by Chouwala and Kamargaon on the west, on the west in the district. Narsingdi is one of the most important cities in case of the garment industry. The city is famous for its textile craft industry. Narsingdi is divided into two municipalities and 14 union parishads. The municipalities are: Madhabdi Municipality, Narsingdi Municipality; and the union parishads are: Alokbali, Amdia, Char Dighaldi, Chinishpur, Hajipur, Karimpur, Khathalia, Mahishasura, Meherpara, Nazarpur, Nuralapur, Paikarchar, Panchdona, and Silmandi. The union parishads are subdivided into 152 mauzas and 275 villages.
Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) is the 12th oldest public university and second science and technology specialized PhD granting public university in Bangladesh focusing in science, technology and business. It is named after the charismatic political leader Mawlana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani. The medium of instruction is English. Every year, in total 815 students are enrolled in undergraduate programs to study in this institution. The number of teachers is about 206. In 2021, MBSTU ranked as the top research university in Bangladesh by Scopus-SCImago institution ranking. In 2020, MBSTU was ranked first among all the universities of Bangladesh based on Scimago Institutions Rankings.

The Bangladeshi diaspora are people of Bangladeshi birth, descent or origin who live outside of Bangladesh. Abul Fayez Mohammad Abdul Alim Chowdhury (1928–1971) was an eye specialist in Bangladesh. He was abducted by the Al-Badr militia as part of a plan to kill the renowned intellectuals of the country and was found dead on 18 December 1971, at Rayer Bazaar in Dhaka.
