Basia Bonkowski, also known as Basia Rendall, was an Australian TV presenter. Shows she was the presenter of included Rock Around the World (SBS), [1] Continental Drift (SBS), [2] Music Video (Channel 10), [3] and The Big Byte (SBS) [4]

Bonkowski was a published author with Shimmer, a 2009 book about her mother, [5] and Jesse's World, a book on international adoption published in 2005. [6]

Bonkowski was born in Adelaide, one of four children of Polish immigrants. She married Kimble Rendall in 1982 and they have two adopted children. She died on 3 September 2022 after a battle with lymphoma. [7] [8]

He was a pioneer of Australian TV journalism, first appearing on the ABC’s groundbreaking This Day Tonight and later on Sixty Minutes. Negus was known for making complex international and political issues accessible to a broad audience through his down-to-earth, colloquial presentation style. His very direct interviewing technique occasionally caused confrontation, famously with Margaret Thatcher, but also led to some interviewees giving more information than they had given in other interviews. Recognition of his unique skills led to him hosting a new ABC show, Foreign Correspondent, and Dateline on SBS. He often reported from the frontline of dangerous conflicts and described himself as an “anti-war correspondent” who wanted people to understand the reasons behind why wars were senseless. He was awarded a Walkley Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism. He presented 6.30 with George Negus on Network Ten. He remains a director of his own media consulting company, Negus Media International.

Patricia Anna Lovell, commonly referred to as Pat Lovell, was an Australian film producer and actress, whose work within that country's film industry led her to receive the Raymond Longford Award in 2004 from the Australian Film Institute (AFI).

As a musician Rendall was guitarist, vocalist and co-founder of punk rockers XL Capris and of rock band the Hoodoo Gurus.

The First Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards was held on 2 March 1987 at the Sheraton Wentworth Hotel in Sydney with Elton John as the host. The awards were introduced by ARIA Chairman, Paul Turner, who explained the nomination and voting procedures. Presenters of the 20 awards included Slim Dusty, Basia Bonkowski and Donnie Sutherland. The ceremony was not televised. The most successful artist was John Farnham with his album and its associated single, "You're the Voice" helping him win six awards.

Rock Around the World was an Australian music television show broadcast by SBS. It was hosted by Basia Bonkowski. It was broadcast from 4 January 1982 and was axed in 1985 and replaced by Kulture Shock. The program played music videos, and interviews with more of a focus on European content than other shows.

Continental Drift was an Australian music television show broadcast by SBS. It was hosted by Basia Bonkowski who was then hosting Rock Around the World. It was axed in 1985.

The Big Byte was an Australian magazine style television show, focused on computers, broadcast by the SBS. Broadcast from 24 March 1994 it was hosted by Basia Bonkowski. Also featured were reporters Phil Keoghan, Maeve O'Meara and Simon Nasht and game reviewer Hayden Topperwien.
