The men's basketball tournament at the 1991 Pan American Games was held from August 3 to 17, 1991 in Havana, Cuba. The women also competed in the Cuban capital, from August 3 to 12. [1] [2] Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva was the venue for the games. [3]

  4. Venezuela was later disqualified after one of their players, Armando Becker, was found guilty of using doping in the match against Uruguay on August 13, 1991. Venezuela therefore was set back from the sixth to the tenth and last spot in the final ranking.

Yuderqui Maridalia Contreras, also known as Yudelkis Contreras, is a Dominican Republican weightlifter. She went to the 2008 Summer Olympics where she was 5th. After the Games, she was accused of failing a doping control, but the case ended with her name cleared. She was one of the two athletes that represented her home country in weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She failed her three attempts in the snatch stage ending with no mark.

The Basketball Tournament at the 1995 Pan American Games was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from March 19 to March 25, 1995. The women's tournament was cancelled because as of March 3, 1995, only four women's teams had signed up to play.

Yenebier Adelina Guillén Benítez is a Dominican boxer who competes as a 75 kilogram middleweight, Pan American Champion and Female Boxer in 2013 and Silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. She also won the gold medal at the 2008 Central American and Caribbean Championship, 2013 Bolivarian Games and 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Dionicio Gustavo is a karateka from the Dominican Republic who twice won the gold medal at the Pan American Games.
