Beatriz Mesquita also known as Bia Mesquita [4] is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competitor with arguably the best competitive record in both Gi and Nogi of all time having won 24 titles at black belt level in the 4 major Gi Championships. [5] With 10 gold medals, as of Worlds 2021, she holds the record for the most IBJJF World Championship titles at black belt level [6] and is a member of the IBJJF Hall of Fame.
Beatriz de Oliveira Mesquita [4] began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu at aged five in 1996, besides jiujitsu she also trained in judo, wrestling and swimming. [7] By the time she was 10 she had won the Brazilian National Junior Championships, three State Championships and several other major tournaments, she was sent to train under BJJ legend Leticia Ribeiro, in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. At 15 she trained in Freestyle wrestling winning a junior state title before dedicating herself to BJJ. [4] She received her brown belt in June 2009 from professor Leticia Ribeiro, while standing on the podium of the World Championship. She went on to receive her black belt in March 2011 again from professor Ribeiro. [1]
In 2017 she defeated UFC fighter and 2× World Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Champion Mackenzie Dern in 64 seconds at their first competitive meeting in the Rio Falls Jiu Jitsu open. [8] In June 2018 Mesquita became the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI) Women's Bantamweight Champion submitting Luana Alzuguir in the Semi-final and Bianca Basílio in the final. [9] On 12 December 2021, Mesquita won her 10th world title at the 2021 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship after beating Margot Ciccarelli in the semi-final and Luiza Monteiro in the final. [10] At the 2022 ADCC World Championship Mesquita defeated Mayssa Bastos via points but then lost to Ffion Davies in the semi-finals; Mesquita won bronze after defeating Bianca Basilio by submission. Mesquita will face Jennifer Maia in the main event of ADXC 3 on March 2, 2024. [12] She won the match by submission. [13]
Mesquita announced on April 7, 2023, that she had signed a contract to be represented by First Round Management and would be making her MMA debut shortly. [14] Mesquita announced on September 30, 2023 that she was going to be training at American Top Team. [15]

Ribeiro is considered one of the top 10 best Brazilian jiu-jitsu female fighters of all time having been distinguished with a mention in the IBJJF Hall of Fame.
Hannette Staack is a Brazilian submission grappler and 4th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt practitioner and coach. A three-time ADCC champion and five-time IBJJF World Champion, Staack is a member of the IBJJF Hall of Fame and is regarded as one of the most accomplished female grapplers in the history of the sport.

Laurence Cousin Fouillat is a French submission grappler and third degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and instructor. Considered a pioneer in the sport, Cousin is regarded as the first European female to receive a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In 2005 she won the CBJJO World Jiu-Jitsu Cup and medalled at the IBJJF World Championship taking place in Rio de Janeiro. In 2007 Cousin became the first woman from outside Brazil to become IBJJF World jiu-jitsu champion.
Gabrielle McComb Lima, also known as Gabi McComb, is a Brazilian submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. McComb is a multiple times World and Pan-American champion, in both Gi and No-Gi. She is the 2021 Black Belt Featherweight World Champion.
Penny Thomas is a South African submission grappler and 3rd degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt practitioner and coach. After opening South Africa's first jiu-jitsu academy in her garage, Thomas won two BJJ world champion titles. Subsequently, she relocated to the United States, where she trained under the guidance of Luis Heredia and later Leticia Ribeiro.
Craig Benjamin Jones is an Australian grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt competitor and coach. An IBJJF World No-Gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion as a white belt, Jones is a two-time ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship silver medalist and a three-time Polaris Pro Grappling champion. Jones trains out of Austin, Texas, and is the head of B Team Jiu-Jitsu.
Kade Ruotolo is an American submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete. A competitor with his twin brother Tye since the age of 3, Ruotolo is a IBJJF World champion, Pan Am and European Open champion at coloured belt level. Promoted to black belt in December 2021, Ruotolo won the 2022 ADCC World Championship in the 77kg division, becoming at age 19 the youngest-ever ADCC Submission Fighting World champion. Ruotolo is signed to ONE Championship where he is the current lightweight submission grappling champion.
