The Belgian Cross Country Championships (Dutch : Belgische kampioenschappen veldlopen) is an annual cross country running organised by the Royal Belgian Athletics League that serves as the national championship for the sport in Belgium. It was usually held in February or March until 2023 but from there on out, the championships are organized in the autumn, usually in November.
It was first held in 1896 for men only. A separate women's championship was created in 1970 and the national championship races for both sexes were held in conjunction from 1988 onwards. A short race was added to the programme in 1992, which served as with national selection for that section at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships from 1998 to 2006.
Guest athletes from other nations occasionally compete at the competition, but are not eligible for the national title. Several guests have gone on to place first in the race. In the men's long race New Zealand's Gavin Thorley in 1971, Burundi's Hilaire Ntirampeba in 2000 and Ethiopia's Faisa Dame Tasama in 2007 and 2013. In the women's long race, Lithuania's Stefanija Statkuvienė in 1996 and Ethiopia's Mimi Belete in 2008. The 2012 men's short race was won by Morocco's Abdellah Dacha.

In doing so, Abdi became both the first ever Belgian world championship medal winner at the marathon and the first Belgian male athlete to win an individual medal at both the Olympic Games and World Athletics Championships. He claimed silver in the 10,000 metres at the 2018 European Championships. He finished second and third at the 2020 Tokyo Marathon and 2022 London Marathon respectively. Abdi is the European record holder for the marathon.

Typically held over two to three days in February during the Belgian winter, it was first added to the national calendar in 1989, supplementing the main outdoor Belgian Athletics Championships held in the summer since 1889. National championships in relay and combined track and field events are contested separately.

She also participated at multiple World and European Athletics championships, indoor and outdoor, individually and as a member of the 4x400 metres relay teams. She was national champion in the women's 400 metres in 2023.

The 2021 Belgian Indoor Athletics Championships was the year's national championship in indoor track and field for Belgium. It was held on Saturday 20 February at the Complexe sportif de Blocry in Louvain-la-Neuve. A total of 16 events, 8 for men and 8 for women, were contested. The competition was heavily affected by restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with several events abandoned due to lack of entries and all events having greatly reduced numbers of entries. The competition was not held before the public. In spite of restrictions, women's pole vaulter Fanny Smets broke the Belgian indoor record with a clearance of 4.53 m.
The 2021 Belgian Athletics Championships was the year's national outdoor track and field championships for Belgium. It was held from 26 to 27 June at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, with the exception of the hammer throw events which took place in Kessel-Lo. The national championships in 10,000 metres and women's 3000 metres steeplechase took place on Saturday 12 June in Gentbrugge.
