The Berlin tennis exhibitions (known for sponsorship reasons as the bett1Aces) were two men's and women's exhibition tennis tournaments each, which were held from 13 to 19 July 2020 in Berlin, Germany, during the break of the ATP and WTA Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From 13 to 15 July they took take place at the Steffi-Graf-Stadium on grass, and from 17 to 19 July in a disused hangar of the Airport Tempelhof on hardcourt. Six players each took part in the men's and women's competitions. [1] [2]

Dominic Thiem and Elina Svitolina were the champions of the tournaments at the Steffi-Graf-Stadium, [3] before Thiem again and Anastasija Sevastova won at the Airport Tempelhof. [4]

Steffi Graf German tennis player

Stefanie Maria "Steffi" Graf is a German former professional tennis player. She was ranked world No. 1 for a record 377 weeks and won 22 major singles titles, the second-most since the start of the Open Era in 1968 and third-most of all-time. In 1988, Graf became the first tennis player to achieve the Golden Slam by winning all four major singles titles and the Olympic gold medal in the same calendar year. Furthermore, she is the only tennis player, male or female, to have won each major tournament at least four times.

The German Open is a WTA Tour affiliated professional tennis tournament for women played in West Berlin, West Germany, then Berlin, Germany from 1991 to 2008 following reunification. Held since 1896, it was one of the oldest tournaments for women. Until 1978 the tournament was held in Hamburg together with the men's tournament. From 1988, it was classified on the WTA Tour as a Tier I tournament.

Dominic Thiem Austrian tennis player

Dominic Thiem is an Austrian professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as world No. 3 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals, which he first achieved in March 2020. He is the second-highest ranked Austrian player in history, behind former world No. 1 Thomas Muster. Thiem has won 17 ATP Tour singles titles, including a Grand Slam title at the 2020 US Open where he came back from two sets down to defeat Alexander Zverev in the final. With the win, Thiem became the first male player born in the 1990s to claim a major singles title, as well as the first Austrian to win the US Open singles title. He had previously reached three other major finals, finishing runner-up at the 2018 and 2019 French Opens to Rafael Nadal, and at the 2020 Australian Open to Novak Djokovic. Thiem was also runner-up at the 2019 and 2020 ATP Finals, where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev, respectively.

Alexander Zverev German tennis player (born 1997)

Alexander "Sascha" Alexandrovich Zverev is a German professional tennis player. He has been ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) as high as world No. 2, and has been a permanent fixture in the top 10 since July 2017. Zverev's career highlights include titles at the 2018 and the 2021 ATP Finals, and a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He has won 19 ATP Tour titles in singles and two in doubles, and reached his first major final at the 2020 US Open, finishing runner-up to Dominic Thiem. Zverev is the only active player outside of the Big Four with five Masters 1000 titles. He sustained an ankle injury when he played the semifinal of the French Open 2022 against Rafael Nadal and is currently recovering.

The 2015 MercedesCup was a men's tennis tournament played on grass courts. It was the 38th edition of the Stuttgart Open, and part of the ATP World Tour 250 series of the 2015 ATP World Tour. It was held at the Tennis Club Weissenhof in Stuttgart, Germany, from 8 June until 14 June 2015. This was the first year that the tournament was held on grass courts. First-seeded Rafael Nadal won the singles title.

Stan Wawrinka defeated the defending champion Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–7(1–7), 6–4, 7–5, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2016 US Open. It was his third Grand Slam title; on all three occasions he defeated the world No. 1 player in the final. Wawrinka saved a match point en route to the title, against Dan Evans in the third round. Djokovic became the third man in the Open Era to lose five major finals at one event.

The 2017 ATP Finals (also known as the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals for sponsorship reasons) was a men's tennis tournament played at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom, from 12 to 19 November 2017. It was the season-ending event for the highest-ranked singles players and doubles teams on the 2017 ATP World Tour.

2017 Novak Djokovic tennis season

The 2017 Novak Djokovic tennis season began on 1 January 2017 with the start of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open and ended with a quarterfinal loss at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships in July.

2017 Rafael Nadal tennis season

The 2017 Rafael Nadal tennis season officially began on 3 January 2017, with the start of the Brisbane International, and ended on 13 November 2017, with a loss in the round robin of the ATP Finals and subsequent withdrawal from the tournament.

The 2017 Italian Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy. It was the 74th edition of the Italian Open and is classified as an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the 2017 ATP World Tour and a Premier 5 event on the 2017 WTA Tour. It took place from 15–21 May 2017.

Roger Federer defeated Marin Čilić in the final, 6–3, 6–1, 6–4 to win the gentlemen's singles title at the 2017 Wimbledon Championships. It was his record eighth Wimbledon men's singles title and 19th major title overall. Federer also became the second man in the Open Era, after Björn Borg in 1976, to win Wimbledon without losing a set. This was Federer's 70th appearance at a major, tying the record for male players, and a record-breaking 11th men's singles final at the same major tournament. In addition, with his third-round win over Mischa Zverev, Federer won his 317th Grand Slam singles match, surpassing Serena Williams' record. With his first-round win, Federer surpassed Jimmy Connors' record for most match wins at Wimbledon. In the same match, he hit his 10,000th ace, becoming only the third man to do so. The tournament marked the fifth time that Rafael Nadal and Federer won the French Open and Wimbledon, respectively, in the same year.

Defending champion Rafael Nadal successfully defended his title, defeating Dominic Thiem in the final, 6–4, 6–3, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2018 French Open. It was his record-extending eleventh French Open title and 17th major title overall. Nadal equaled Margaret Court's all-time record of 11 singles titles won at one major and became the first player to achieve that feat in the Open Era. He lost only one set during the tournament, and retained the world No. 1 singles ranking. Nadal and Roger Federer were in contention for the top ranking.

The 2019 ATP Finals (also known as the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals for sponsorship reasons) was a men's tennis tournament played at the O2 Arena on indoor hard courts in London, United Kingdom, from 10 to 17 November 2019. It was the season-ending event for the highest-ranked singles players and doubles teams on the 2019 ATP Tour and was the 50th edition of the tournament (45th in doubles). The singles event was won by Stefanos Tsitsipas over Dominic Thiem in three sets. In doubles, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut defeated Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus in straight sets.

The 2019 Laver Cup was the third edition of the Laver Cup, a men's tennis tournament between teams from Europe and the rest of the world. It was held on indoor hard courts at the Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland from 20 until 22 September.

The 2021 Laver Cup was the fourth edition of the Laver Cup, a men's tennis tournament between teams from Europe and the rest of the world. It was held on indoor hard courts at the TD Garden in Boston, United States from 24 until 26 September.

The 2021 Canadian Open were outdoor hard court tennis tournaments played from August 6 to August 15, 2021, as part of the 2021 US Open Series. The men's event took place at the Aviva Centre in Toronto, and the women's tournament at the IGA Stadium in Montreal. It was the 131st edition of the men's tournament—a Masters 1000 tournament on the 2021 ATP Tour, and the 119th edition of the women's tournament—a WTA 1000 tournament on the 2021 WTA Tour.

Dominic Thiem defeated Alexander Zverev in the final, 2–6, 4–6, 6–4, 6–3, 7–6(8–6) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2020 US Open. It was his first major title, and he became the first man to come back from two sets down in a US Open final in the Open Era, the first to do so overall since 1949, and the first to do so in any major final since Gastón Gaudio at the 2004 French Open. Both players served for the championship in the final set, but both were broken at 30. This was the first time in history that the US Open title was decided by a fifth set tie-break, 50 years after the rule was introduced in 1970.

The 2020 Rolex Paris Masters was a professional tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the 48th edition of the tournament, and a Masters 1000 event on the 2020 ATP Tour.

The 2021 Mallorca Championships was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor grass courts. It was the inaugural edition of the Mallorca Championships, and part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. It was held at the Santa Ponsa Tennis Academy in Santa Ponsa, Spain, from 19 June until 26 June 2021.

Three-time defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6(7–3) to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 2022 Wimbledon championships. It was his seventh Wimbledon title and 21st major singles title overall. Djokovic became the fifth man in the Open Era to record a streak of at least four consecutive titles at one major. By reaching his 32nd men's singles major final, he surpassed the all-time record he had jointly held with Roger Federer. Djokovic also became the first player to win 80 matches at all four majors with his first-round win over Kwon Soon-woo. Because no ranking points were awarded for the tournament in response to its banning Russian and Belarusian players, Djokovic dropped out of the top five in ATP rankings after the tournament.
