The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup was the inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup, a new annual women's international volleyball tournament contested by 6 national teams that acts as a qualifier for the FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League. The tournament was held in Lima, Peru between 20 and 24 June.

2018 Balkan Athletics Championships International athletics championship event

The 2018 Balkan Athletics Championships was the 73rd edition of the annual track and field competition for athletes from the Balkans, organised by Balkan Athletics. It was held at Beroe Stadium in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria on 20 and 21 July. It was the fourth time that the city hosted the competition, following the 1985, 2011 and 2013 editions.

2019 European Athletics U20 Championships International athletics championship event

The 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships were the 25th edition of the biennial European U20 athletics championships. They were held in Borås, Sweden from 18 July to 21 July. Beginning with this edition the long-distance races for men were 3000 and 5000 metres instead of 5000 and 10,000 metres mirroring the women's programme.

Bulgaria originally planned participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Tears Getting Sober" written by Victoria Georgieva, Borislav Milanov, Lukas Oscar Janisch and Cornelia Wiebols, and performed by Victoria. However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2019 Balkan Athletics Championships was the 74th edition of the annual track and field competition for athletes from the Balkans, organised by Balkan Athletics. It was held at the Pravets Sports Complex in Pravets, Bulgaria on 2 and 3 September. It was the first time that the city hosted the competition.

The 2021 Sofia Twenty20 tournament was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament held in Bulgaria in June 2021. The tournament was played at the National Sports Academy in Sofia and was arranged to mark 20 years since the founding of the Bulgarian Cricket Federation. In addition to the hosts Bulgaria, the competing nations were Greece, Romania and Serbia. The tournament consisted of a round-robin stage, followed by semi-finals and a final.

The 2022 Sofia Twenty20 tournament was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, in June 2022. This was the second edition of the Sofia Twenty20; the 2021 tournament was contested by four nations, but the 2022 edition took the form of a four-match bilateral series between Bulgaria and Serbia. The series was played at the National Sports Academy in Sofia. The series provided both teams with preparation for the 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier subregional tournaments.
