Billboard Brasil is the Brazilian edition of the American magazine Billboard . The magazine provides music charts, news, photos and videos related to the music industry. Its charts include the Brasil Hot 100 and the Artistas 25, tracking the most popular songs and artists in various music genres.
First released in October 2009, Billboard Brasil was the third version affiliated with Billboard. The magazine eventually ceased publication in July 2014, focusing solely on its website until it ceased operations for undisclosed reasons in 2019. The magazine made its return in August 2023, and the first issue of the relaunch was released on October 13, 2023.
Billboard Brasil was first announced in August 2009. [1] It was officially launched by BPP Promoções e Publicações LTDA on October 14, 2009, with a monthly circulation of 40,000 printed copies sold at R$ 8.90. [2] [3] [4] [5] The first issue had 84 pages and featured the singer Roberto Carlos on the cover. [6] [3] Brazil was the third country to launch a print version affiliated with the American Billboard , following Russia and Turkey. [4] [3] [2] Billboard Brasil adopted the basic format of the American magazine, featuring articles about regional and international music, along with regional and international charts, including the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay. [7] These charts were compiled based on analysis reports from Crowley Broadcast Analysis, which monitored 265 radio stations across the Brazil. [6] Crowley had already provided this restricted service to record labels even before the launch of Billboard Brasil. [8] The last printed issue of the magazine was the 49th, published in July 2014. [9] The 50th issue, published in January 2015, was available only in digital format. [10] Subsequently, Billboard Brasil ceased publication and focused solely on its website. The discontinuation of its operations took place in January 2019. [11] [12]
Brazil did not have a Billboard's existing music charts after the brand's cessation in 2019 until 2022, when Billboard launched on February 14, 2022 the Hits of the World, a collection of charts around the world that ranks the top 25 songs weekly in more than 40 countries around the globe; part of this collection is the Brazil Songs chart. On May 15, 2023, it was announced that Billboard Brasil would be relaunched under the Mynd8. [15] [12] [9] The magazine returned in August 2023. [16] Its first issue of the relaunch was released on October 13, 2023. The magazine arrived with four different covers, featuring Criolo and Marcelo D2, Post Malone, Bebe Rexha, and Luísa Sonza. [17]

Getz/Gilberto is an album by American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto, featuring pianist and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, who also composed many of the tracks. It was released in March 1964 by Verve Records. The album features the vocals of Astrud Gilberto on two tracks, "Garota de Ipanema" and "Corcovado". The artwork was done by artist Olga Albizu. Getz/Gilberto is a jazz and bossa nova album and includes tracks such as "Desafinado", "Corcovado", and "Garota de Ipanema". The last received a Grammy Award for Record of the Year and started Astrud Gilberto's career. "Doralice" and "Para Machucar Meu Coração" strengthened Gilberto's and Jobim's respect for the tradition of pre-bossa nova samba.
Jota Quest is a Brazilian pop rock band. The band was founded in 1993 in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais as J. Quest, but due to trademark issues with Hanna-Barbera, they renamed themselves Jota Quest. The band members include: Rogério Flausino (vocals), Marco Túlio Lara (guitar), Márcio Buzelin (keyboards), PJ (bass) and Paulinho Fonseca (drums). Jota Quest initially stood apart from Minas Gerais' musical tradition by garnering national success with pop rock and blue-eyed soul-tinged pop. Eventually the band exposed its Clube da Esquina influences, including collaborations with Minas Gerais exponents Paulinho Pedra Azul and Milton Nascimento in Oxigenio as well as jams with 14 Bis and a collaboration with Roberto Carlos over his hit single "Alem do Horizonte". Jota Quest sold over 4,000,000 copies in Brazil, Latin America and Portugal.
Charlie Brown Jr. was a Brazilian rock band from Santos, São Paulo. The group was popular with disadvantaged youth because of their relatable commentary about social issues and the frequent use of skate punk and hip hop slang in their songs. The band won two Latin Grammy Awards and was one of the most-popular Brazilian bands of the late 1990s to mid-2000s.

Sandy Leah Lima, known mononymously as Sandy, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Campinas, Sandy began her career in 1989, when she formed with her brother, musician Junior Lima, the vocal duo Sandy & Junior.
