Bingle Bangle (stylized in all caps) is the fifth extended play by South Korean girl group AOA. It was released on May 28, 2018 by FNC Entertainment and distributed by Kakao M. It contains a total of six songs, including the title track "Bingle Bangle". This is the only release as a six member group, after Choa's departure in 2017, as well as the last release to feature member Mina following her departure from the group in May 2019.

Background and release

On April 18, 2018 FNC Entertainment confirmed that AOA would be returning as a group of six in May 2018, marking it their first comeback since Choa's departure in 2017. [1] [2] It was later confirmed that the group would be returning with their fifth mini album titled Bingle Bangle on May 28, 2018. [3] On May 9, FNC Entertainment opened AOA's official instagram and began posting teasers for the comeback on May 10. Both individual and group teasers began to be released through their official instagram on May 10. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] And the tracklist was released on May 22. On May 28, the mini album was officially released along with the title track's "Bingle Bangle" music video.

Member Jimin participated in writing the lyrics for the album. [10]

Promotion

AOA held a showcase on May 28 for the release of the mini album and performed their title track alongside "Super Duper". [11]

They began performing the title track "Bingle Bangle" and "Super Duper" on South Korean music shows from May 31 on Mnet's M!Countdown. [12]

Singles

"Bingle Bangle" was released as the title track in conjunction with the EP on May 28, 2018. The song was described as "a funky summer song with fresh and lively energy". [13] "Bingle Bangle" reached No. 4 on Korea's Gaon Digital Chart and No. 3 on the K-Pop Hot 100.

AOA is a South Korean girl group formed by FNC Entertainment. The original 2012 eight-member line-up included: Choa, Jimin, Yuna, Youkyung, Hyejeong, Mina, Seolhyun and Chanmi. Youkyung left the group in 2016, while Choa left in 2017 due to mental health reasons, followed by Mina in 2019 to pursue her acting career, and Jimin in 2020 due to bullying allegations. N.Flying is a South Korean rap rock band formed by FNC Entertainment in 2013. The group released its first digital indie single "Basket" in Japan on October 1, 2013. The group marked its debut in Korea on May 20, 2015, with its first EP, including lead single 'Awesome'. The band originally consisted of four members: Kwon Kwang-jin, Lee Seung-hyub, Cha Hun and Kim Jae-hyun. Yoo Hwe-seung was added to the band in June 2017. Kwang-jin left the group on December 26, 2018, and his position was filled by Seo Dong-sung on January 1, 2020.

Park Cho-a, known mononymously as Choa, is a South Korean singer. She is best known as a former member of the girl group AOA.

Berry Good South Korean girl group

Berry Good was a South Korean girl group formed by Asia Bridge Entertainment in 2014. The group's final line-up consisted of Johyun and Sehyung with former members being Subin, Iera, Nayeon, Daye, Taeha, Seoyul and Gowoon. They released their debut single Love Letter on May 21, 2014. They officially disbanded on May 12, 2021.

AOA Black South Korean girl group

AOA Black was a subgroup of the South Korean girl group AOA, formed by FNC Entertainment in 2013. Youkyung left the agency of the group in October 2016, but would remain as a guest member for future activities. Choa left the group and sub-unit on June 30, 2017, while Mina left the group in May 2019, Jimin in July 2020, and Yuna in January 2021. Due to the departures of all members, the subgroup was quietly disbanded immediately after Yuna left FNC. The subgroup was notable for their debut single album, "Moya".
