Brian Borland is an American football coach who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Kansas Jayhawks.

Coaching career

In 1985, Borland got his first coaching job with Wisconsin as a graduate assistant. Then in 1986, Borland would get an assistant coaching job with Arizona Western, before in 1988, Borland would take another graduate assistant job this time with the Florida Gators. Then one year later in 1989, Borland got his first defensive coordinator job with Minnesota-Morris. [1] In 1991, Borland was hired by Baker as the team's defensive coordinator. [2] In his times at Baker he additionally served as the school's head softball coach. Also when he left to join Wisconsin-Whitewater, Borland served as the Track & Field coach from 1994-2002. [3] In 1994, Borland joined Wisconsin-Whitewater as the team's defensive back coach. In 2002, Borland was promoted to be the team's defensive coordinator. During his time at Wisconsin-Whitewater, Borland was named the Wisconsin Collegiate Assistant Coach of the Year twice in 2004 and 2006 and was named the NCAA Division III Coordinator of the Year in 2013. [4] [5] In 2015, Borland was hired by the Buffalo Bulls to serve as the team's defensive coordinator. [6] In 2021, Borland joined the Kansas Jayhawks as the team's defensive coordinator. [7]

Mark Thomas Mangino is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Kansas from 2002 to 2009. In 2007, Mangino received several national coach of the year honors after leading the Jayhawks to their only 12-win season in school history and an Orange Bowl victory. However, he resigned as coach at Kansas two seasons later following allegations of mistreatment of players. While at Kansas, Mangino coached in four bowl games with a 3–1 record, the lone loss coming in the 2003 Tangerine Bowl. Additionally, in five of his eight seasons at Kansas, the Jayhawks were Bowl eligible, they were only bowl eligible five times in the previous thirty seasons. He held multiple assistant coaching jobs before becoming the head coach at Kansas, the longest being an eight season stint at Kansas State as their running game coordinator.

Turner Hillery Gill is an American college athletic administrator and former football player and coach. He is the Executive Director of Student-Athlete and Staff Development at the University of Arkansas, a position he assumed in 2019. Gill has served as head football coach at the University at Buffalo (2006–09), the University of Kansas (2010–11) and Liberty University (2012–18), compiling a career college football coaching record of 72–84. He was one of 11 black head coaches in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision at the time of his hiring at Kansas.

Robert S. Ianello is an American college football coach. He is the general manager with the Kansas Jayhawks, a position he had held since the 2021 season. Ianello served as the head football coach at the University of Akron from 2010 to 2011, compiling a record of 2–22. He was fired after the 2011 season. He succeeded J. D. Brookhart, who was relieved of his duties after the 2009 season in which the Akron Zips went 3–9. Before he was hired at Akron, Ianello had been an assistant football coach since 1988, including stints at the University of Alabama, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Arizona, and the University of Notre Dame.

Lance Leipold is an American football coach who is the head coach at the University of Kansas. He has coached at Kansas since 2021. Leipold previously served as the head coach at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (UWW) and University at Buffalo. During his tenure at UWW, the Wisconsin–Whitewater Warhawks won the NCAA Division III Football Championship in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014 and were runners-up in 2008. During his time at Wisconsin-Whitewater, Leipold led the Warhawks to 5 undefeated seasons.

Douglas Allan Girod is an American educator, medical doctor, and the 18th University of Kansas chancellor. Prior to becoming chancellor, he was the University of Kansas Medical Center's executive vice chancellor, a position he had held since February 2013. Before being promoted to the executive vice chancellor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Girod was the senior dean for the School of Medicine while dually serving as a surgeon at the University of Kansas Health System where he began his career in 1994. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy Reserve.

Kevin Kane is an American football coach and former linebacker, who is the current defensive coordinator for the Purdue Boilermakers. He played college football at Kansas from 2002 to 2005. He served as the defensive coordinator of the Northern Illinois Huskies (2016–2017) and SMU Mustangs (2018–2020).

Maurice Linguist is an American football coach who is currently serving as Co-Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Back coach for the University of Alabama. He was the head coach for the University at Buffalo from 2021 until his departure in 2024 to join the Alabama coaching staff.

Andy Kotelnicki is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator at Pennsylvania State University. He previously served as the offensive coordinator at the University of Kansas from 2021 to 2023. Kotelnicki played college football at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls as a center before entering coaching.

James Zebrowski is an American college football coach. He is the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of Kansas; a position he has held since 2023. He was the head football coach for Lakeland College—now knows as Lakeland University—from 2003 to 2006. He also coached for Preble Shawnee High School, Berea High School, Southern Illinois, Millikin, Wisconsin–Whitewater, Northern Illinois, Minnesota, Hamline, and Buffalo. He played college football for Mount Union as a quarterback.
