Tony Ruprecht is a former Canadian politician. His first elected position was as an alderman in the old Toronto City Council,in the late 1970s. He became a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 1981,and served in premier David Peterson's cabinet as minister without portfolio from 1985 to 1987. Ruprecht represented Toronto's Parkdale and then Davenport constituencies for the Liberal Party of Ontario for 30 years. On July 5,2011,he announced that he was leaving politics and would not seek re-election in the October 2011 provincial election.

The 1985 Hamilton municipal election was held on November 12,1985 to elect a Mayor,sixteen members to Hamilton,Ontario City Council,fourteen members to the Hamilton Board of Education and sixteen members to the Hamilton-Wentworth Roman Catholic Separate School Board. In addition,this election was accompanied by a referendum question asking voters if they wanted to directly elect individuals to the office of Regional Chairman.
Shawn William Little was a political consultant and Ottawa City Councillor in Ottawa,Ontario,Canada,for the urban Kitchissippi Ward,consisting of neighbourhoods west of the City Centre. He was born in Ottawa and raised in its Westboro neighbourhood,where he attended Woodroffe Avenue and Broadview Public elementary schools followed by Nepean High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Carleton University,and a diploma in health sciences from Humber College. He wrote articles for the Newswest community paper in its early days. He died in November 2012 while vacationing in Cuba.
The 2010 Ottawa municipal election was a municipal election that was held on October 25,2010,to elect the mayor of Ottawa,Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. The election was held on the same date as elections in every other municipality in Ontario.
Municipal elections were held in Toronto,Ontario,Canada,on December 1,1969. Across Metro Toronto there were few surprising results,and city of Toronto incumbent mayor William Dennison was easily re-elected. The one dramatic exception to this was on Toronto city council,where a number of long-standing members lost to young new arrivals who shared a common vision of opposition to the megaprojects that had transformed Toronto throughout the post-war period. While the reform movement candidate for mayor lost,it gained a strong presence on city council. The 1970s reform faction dominated Toronto politics for the next decade.

A member of the left-wing New Democratic Party,he believed in getting the public involved in municipal affairs. Despite his party affiliation,he had a fiscally conservative streak,garnering a reputation as a 'slasher' during budget meetings.
Patricia Marilyn Nicol is a former Canadian politician,developer,television commentator and newspaper columnist. She served as an alderman on Ottawa City Council from 1975 to 1976,and on the Ottawa Board of Control from 1977 to 1978. Considered to be on the "extreme right end" of the political spectrum at city hall,she was known for her "fiery speaking style" and her divisiveness led her to stand "alone... against the rest of city council on big issues". She was also known for her political rivalry with Ottawa's left leaning mayor,Marion Dewar,whom she ran against twice for Ottawa's top job.
Thomas Andrew McDougall was a Canadian lawyer and politician. He was an alderman on Ottawa City Council from 1970 to 1972 and was a member of the Ottawa Board of Control from 1972 to 1974. He unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Ottawa in 1974.
Ernest William Jones was a Canadian politician. He was an alderman on Ottawa City Council from 1950 to 1952,and was a member of the Ottawa Board of Control from 1955 to 1960 and from 1963 to 1974. He unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Ottawa in 1960,and was Deputy Mayor of the city in 1972.
Jeffrey Lyman deWitt King was a Canadian politician,lawyer and priest. He was an alderman on Ottawa City Council from 1970 to 1972,and was President of the Ontario Liberal Party from 1973 to 1976.
Murray Albert Heit was a Canadian politician and dentist. He served as an alderman on Ottawa City Council from 1959 to 1964 and as a controller on the Ottawa Board of Control from 1965 to 1969.
