The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is a pair of twin suspension bridges that span the Tacoma Narrows strait of Puget Sound in Pierce County,Washington. The bridges connect the city of Tacoma with the Kitsap Peninsula and carry State Route 16 over the strait. Historically,the name "Tacoma Narrows Bridge" has applied to the original bridge nicknamed "Galloping Gertie",which opened in July 1940,but collapsed possibly because of aeroelastic flutter four months later,as well as the replacement of the original bridge which opened in 1950 and still stands today as the westbound lanes of the present-day two-bridge complex.

State Route 16 (SR 16) is a 27.16-mile-long (43.71 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Washington,connecting Pierce and Kitsap counties. The highway,signed as east–west,begins at an interchange with Interstate 5 (I-5) in Tacoma and travels through the city as a freeway towards the Tacoma Narrows. SR 16 crosses the narrows onto the Kitsap Peninsula on the partially tolled Tacoma Narrows Bridge and continues through Gig Harbor and Port Orchard before the freeway ends in Gorst. The designation ends at an intersection with SR 3 southwest of the beginning of its freeway through Bremerton and Poulsbo. SR 16 is designated as a Strategic Highway Network (STRAHNET) corridor within the National Highway System as the main thoroughfare connecting Tacoma to Naval Base Kitsap and a part of the Highways of Statewide Significance program.
State Route 509 (SR 509) is a 35.17-mile-long (56.60 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Washington,connecting Tacoma in Pierce County to Seattle in King County. The highway travels north from Interstate 705 (I-705) in Tacoma to SR 99 south of downtown Seattle. It serves cities along the Puget Sound and west of Seattle–Tacoma International Airport in south King County,including Federal Way,Des Moines,and Burien. SR 509 is part of the National Highway System and is a limited-access highway near the Port of Tacoma and from Burien to its northern terminus in Seattle.

Eugene A. DePasquale is an American lawyer and Democratic politician who served as the Pennsylvania Auditor General from 2013 to 2021. From 2007 to 2013,he served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,representing the York County-based 95th district. The Murray Morgan Bridge,also known as the 11th Street Bridge or City Waterway Bridge,is a vertical-lift bridge in Tacoma,Washington. It originally opened February 15,1913,to replace an 1894 swing-span bridge. The bridge connects downtown with the tidal flats,it spans the Thea Foss Waterway,originally known as the City Waterway. Designed by noted bridge engineering firm Waddell &Harrington,the bridge has some unusual features:higher above the water than most lift bridges,construction on a variable grade and an overhead span designed to carry a water pipe. The bridge structure also contained a series of switchback ramps that connected what is now Cliff Street with Dock Street. According to the Department of Transportation,the towers are 207 feet 1.75 inches (63.1381 m) above the water,with the road deck 60 feet (18 m) above the water level at zero tide. It was modified and updated in 1957 and was used to route State Route 509 through the tidal flats. The bridge was bypassed in the late 1990s when State Route 509 was routed around the edge of the tidal flats. While WSDOT wanted to tear down the bridge,the City of Tacoma convinced the state to transfer ownership to the City. In the past,the bridge has been heavily used by commuters and emergency services in connecting the Port of Tacoma with downtown Tacoma.
Tacoma Dome Station is a train station and transit hub in Tacoma,Washington,United States. It is served by Amtrak trains,the S Line of Sounder commuter rail,the T Line of Link light rail,and buses on local and intercity routes. Located near the Tacoma Dome south of Downtown Tacoma,the station consists of two train platforms used by Sounder and Amtrak trains,a platform for the T Line,a bus terminal,and two parking garages. The Sounder station is integrated into Freighthouse Square,a former Milwaukee Road depot that was converted into a shopping mall,and is on the east side of the Amtrak station.

Mark Anthony Miloscia is an American politician and former public school teacher who served in the Washington State Senate from 2015 to 2019. A Democrat for more than twenty years,in 2014 he switched to the Republican Party and ran for election to represent the 30th Legislative District in the state senate - winning by more than ten percentage points. In 2016,Miloscia ran for state auditor as a Republican,he lost the general election to Democrat Pat McCarthy by 5 percentage points. He represented the 30th legislative district for seven terms,from 1999 to 2013,in the Washington House of Representatives. He was endorsed by The Seattle Times newspaper for re-election in 2018.

Incumbent Kim Wyman,a Republican,resigned from the office on November 19,2021,to become the senior election security lead for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency in the Biden administration's Department of Homeland Security. Washington governor Jay Inslee,a Democrat,announced he would appoint state senator Steve Hobbs as her replacement,the first Democrat to hold the office in more than fifty years.
