Broederliefde are a Dutch hip-hopgroup, originating from Rotterdam. The group is composed of five rappers: Emms (Emerson Akachar), Jerr (Jerzy Rocha Livramento), Sjaf (Javiensley Dams), Edson (Edson Cesar) and Mella (Melvin Silberie). In 2016, their project Hard Work Pays Off 2 sat at the top of the album charts in the Netherlands for three months.
The group members originated from Cape Verde, the Dominican Republic and Curaçao, and grew up in the Netherlands. They started off playing football, then moved into the studio. The group's name translates from Dutch as brotherly love (literally brotherlove).[citation needed]
Their first album, Gevoelig feestje, released in 2014, reached the top of the Album Top 100. They were nominated for Edison Awards.[1] The group also won awards at the FunX Awards in the same year.
Their second album, Hard Work Pays Off, was released at the end of 2015, and contained the single Alaka. The single was the first released by Broederliefde, and was a certified platinum record reaching the Dutch Top 40 and Single Top 100. At the end of April 2016, the sequel to Hard Work Pays Off, named Hard Work Pays Off 2, was released. With its digital release, the album reached almost 700,000 listens on Spotify. Broederliefde again reached the Single Top 100.[2]Hard Work Pays Off 2 remained for longer at number one than any record for 13 years, since Frans Bauer. It became the first Dutch-language album to reach number one for 13 weeks.[3] In November, the album was also nominated for a 3voor12 Award, and the group was nominated for an MTV Award for best Dutch group.[4][5]
After taking part in the Lowlands Festival,[6][7] Broederliefde made a number of significant public appearances, including at Uitmarkt in Amsterdam, and on the local TV shows RTL Late Night and DINO. A collaboration with Jan Smit, named Kom dichterbij me, was especially written for their performance on DINO.[8] Their single Jungle became the most played Dutch song on Spotify in 2016.[9] In 2017, Broederliefde was ambassador to Bevrijdingsdag (Dutch Liberation Day).[10]
Dutch hip hop or Nederhop ("Netherhop") is hip hop / rap music created by Dutch speaking musicians in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). Although the first Dutch speaking rappers in Europe typically worked in English, this began to change after 1986, at first in an underground scene. The Osdorp Posse were the first to record and release Dutch language hip hop singles, from around 1990, but it took until 1995 for a Dutch language rap single to achieve a main chart top ten hit: Spraakwater by Extince.

As a TV presenter, he has worked on programs like the Beste Zangers and Sterren Muziekfeest op het Plein Since 1999, Smit has been serving as an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages.

TopNotch is a Dutch record label specializing in hip-hop. The label was founded in 1995, and is run by Vincent Patty. After some commercial success it became allied with Virgin EMI Records, and since 2004 has a marketing and distribution deal with PIAS Entertainment Group. It has expanded into Dutch-language music by singer-songwriters such as Lucky Fonz III, and in 2009 signed a distribution and marketing agreement with Universal Music Group. Still praised in 2009 as "the brand for high-quality Dutch hip-hop", it sought to expand into other musical genres. Latest artist to leave Top Notch was Ronnie Flex on April 22 2021; after a conflict where both parties couldn't agree on a new contract.
Gerwin Pardoel, better known by his stage name Gers Pardoel or mononymously as Gers, is a Dutch rapper. He rose to fame in 2009, due to his successful collaboration with The Opposites on the single "Broodje Bakpao". Pardoel's debut studio album Deze wereld is van jou was released in November 2011 and was certified Platinum by the NVPI. The Nederhop artist is best known for his number-one single "Ik neem je mee", which became the most successful Dutch-language and Dutch-artist hit in the Dutch Top 40 ever.

Most of his albums are Dutch, but he released also a few German albums.
