Bruce Gillmer (born August 6, 1963) is an American television producer/music executive known for executive producing the MTV Europe Music Awards, often called the EMAs, in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, as well as other music and entertainment events and award shows. [1] [2]

Career

Gillmer got his start as a Talent Coordinator for MTV in 1987, working on shows like Yo! MTV Raps , Headbangers Ball , The Jon Stewart Show and MTV Spring Break. He was then promoted to Senior Vice President of Music and Talent Relations for VH1, where he led the Music and Talent department on all music-driven shows, events and initiatives. [3] Gillmer was deeply involved with the development and production of VH1 Divas, VH1 Hip Hop Honors, VH1 Fashion Awards, Behind the Music , The Concert for New York City, and a variety of other shows, series and events. [4]

Bruce Gillmer later became Executive Vice President of Talent and Music Programming / Events for Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), where he led strategic partnerships within the international music industry and was responsible for music and celebrity talent participation around international programming and events, including the MTV EMAs, the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the VMAJs and MTV World Stage. MTV Europe Music Awards Annual European awards

The MTV Europe Music Awards are awards presented by Viacom International Media Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest.

MTV (Russian TV channel) Russian music television network

MTV Russia or MTV HD is a Russian-language free-to-air 24-hour music and general entertainment channel broadcasting in the Russian Federation. Under a licensing agreement from ViacomCBS Networks EMEAA the channel was operated by Prof Media. From June 2013, VIMN Russia announced it would operate the channel after the agreement between both media organizations ceased. VIMN Russia relaunched the channel MTV Russia channel on 1 October 2013 and is also served by mtv.ru.

VH1 (Indian TV channel) Indian television channel

VH1 India is an Indian subscription music television and pop culture channel. It was launched in 2005 as a result of a joint venture between MTV India and Zee-Turner, based on the American channel of the same name. It broadcasts shows like VH1 Top 10, Hit Factory and Good Morning VH1. It also airs MTV international shows. It is now owned by Viacom18. The Indian version of the channel continues to use 2003 VH1 logo.

MTV Classic is an Australian subscription television music channel. The channel focused on music from the 1980s to 2000s. The channel first launched in Australia on 14 March 2004 and in New Zealand on 1 June 2011. On 1 July 2011 MTV International channels launched new logos

John Sykes (American businessman)

John Sykes is an American entertainment executive and the President of Entertainment Enterprises for iHeartMedia since 2011. As of January 2020, he is now also the Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Sykes was co-founder of MTV and throughout his tenure has held leadership positions including President at VH1 for eight years, President - North America at Chrysalis Records, Executive Vice President of Artist Acquisitions at EMI Music Publishing, Chairman and CEO at Infinity Broadcasting Corporation and President of New Network Development at MTV Networks.

2013 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2013 MTV EMAs were held at the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 10 November 2013. This was the second time the awards had taken place in the Netherlands, the last time being in 1997.

2014 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2014 MTV EMAs were held at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland on 9 November 2014. This was the first time since 2003 when the awards were held in Scotland and the fifth time the United Kingdom has hosted the MTV EMA since the show was hosted in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The event showcases the world's hottest musical acts in a different city each year. The event was hosted by Nicki Minaj.

<i>MTV Pinoy</i> Philippine television channel

MTV Pinoy was a Philippine music and entertainment pay television network owned by Viacom International Media Networks Asia, with a partnership with Viva Entertainment to collaborate on local productions, events, marketing and advertising sales. The network was launched on February 1, 2014. It operated from 4pm to 1am, after that it would rebroadcast MTV Asia's programming.

2016 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2016 MTV EMAs were held at the Rotterdam Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 6 November 2016. It was hosted by Bebe Rexha. This was the third time the awards have taken place in the Netherlands, and the second time Rotterdam has been the host city. The awards were held in the same venue as the 1997 MTV EMAs.

2017 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2017 MTV EMAs were held at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London, United Kingdom, on 12 November 2017. The host of the ceremony was Rita Ora, with voiceovers provided by Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp. This was the sixth time that the UK has hosted the awards show, and the second time London has been the host city. London first hosted the awards ceremony in 1996 at Alexandra Palace. The ceremony was directed for television by British award-winning multi camera director Hamish Hamilton.

2018 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2018 MTV EMAs was held at the Bizkaia Arena in Barakaldo, part of Greater Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, on 4 November 2018. The host of the ceremony was Hailee Steinfeld. This was the third time that Spain hosted the annual awards show.

2020 MTV Europe Music Awards

The 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards were held on 8 November 2020. The show was hosted by Little Mix, making them the first group to ever host the show, however only three members of the group, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, appeared; Jesy Nelson did not participate due to health reasons. In similar fashion to its American counterpart held earlier this year, performances for the show were filmed at various locations around Europe due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The two-hour long show was broadcast in 180 countries.
