Cabbage was an English post punk rock band, formed in 2015 in Mossley, Tameside, England. [1] [2] [3] They are composed of co-frontmen Lee Broadbent and Joe Martin, guitarist Eoghan Clifford, bassist Patrick Neville and drummer Asa Morley. [4]

History

Prior to forming the band, Martin performed around Greater Manchester as a performance poet. [5] Some poems went on to form the basis of Cabbage songs, including Dinnerlady. [6] Broadbent was previously the drummer in Where's Strutter? [7] [8] and Brahma-Loka whom Bill Ryder-Jones produced tracks for at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. [9] [10] Guitarist Eoghan Clifford was previously the drummer in Mossley band The Fayre, a one time member of Twisted Wheel with past Bassist Stephen Evans and also worked with local singer-songwriter Danny Mahon. [11] [12] [13] Drummer Asa Morley has previously played with Storytellers. [14] [15] In 2019, bassist Stephen Evans departed the band and was replaced by Patrick Neville, who also performs with Mossley band 'Yellow Brain'.

The band released a collection of their early EPs, called Young, Dumb and Full of..., in January 2017. [16]

The band released their debut album Nihlistic Glamour Shots in April 2018 which charted at No. 21 in the UK Albums Chart.

It was announced in November 2021 that they would split up at the end of their final tour. [17]

The Spitfire Boys were the first Liverpool punk band to release a single. The Spitfire Boys were mainly notable for including in their line-up Peter Clarke, who went on to drum for the Slits and later Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Creatures as Budgie, and Paul Rutherford, later better known for being a member of 1980s pop band Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Jones went on to join the Photons, which also included Steve Strange (Visage) and Vince Ely.

Warrior on the Edge of Time is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Hawkwind. Many of the lyrics are by Michael Moorcock, and the album is loosely based on the concept of Moorcock's novel The Eternal Champion. It was the band's highest-charting studio album on the UK Albums Chart, where it peaked at number 13, and was their third and last album to make the U.S. Billboard chart, where it peaked at number 150. Reviews have been mixed, with Melody Maker panning the album and particularly criticizing the vocal work while the All Music Guide has praised the album for features such as the songwriting. This would also be the last album to feature the band's bassist Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, who was fired from the band one day before the album's release.

Cabbage Alley is the fourth studio album by the funk group the Meters, produced by Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn and released in May 1972 by Reprise Records. It was the band's first album for the label, following the demise of Josie Records a year earlier, and the signing afforded the group a higher recording budget and re-introduced organist and keyboardist Art Neville to the lineup, having briefly left the band some time earlier.

King of the Slums were a British alternative rock band. Formed in Greater Manchester in the mid-1980s, the band specialised in a kind of electric violin and guitar-driven rock music, and released their debut single in 1986. Whilst the band earned some critical acclaim from the UK music press, commercial success eluded them and the group disbanded in the early 1990s following the release of their second studio album, Blowzy Weirdos (1991). An album of new material plus some older songs appeared in 2009 credited to both King of the Slums and Slum Cathedral User, which was the original name of the group. Three more albums followed, Manco Diablo (2017), Artgod Dogs (2018) and Encrypted Contemporary Narratives (2020) before the death of frontman Charley Keigher in 2021.

Following the departure of Mat Neale in 2020, the band released Electric Kool Aid: a 2-part EP released on June 17.
