The first season of Canadian Idol debuted on June 9, 2003. Ryan Malcolm of Kingston, Ontario was the eventual winner. On July 15, 2003, CTV and INSINC announced that broadband video of the program would be available over the Internet. [1]

Canadian Idol is a Canadian reality television competition show which aired on CTV, based on the British show Pop Idol. The show was a competition to find the most talented young singer in Canada, and was hosted by Ben Mulroney. Jon Dore was the "roving reporter" for the first three seasons. Elena Juatco assumed the role for season four, Dave Kerr had the role in season five and Jully Black in season six.

Singapore Idol was a Singaporean reality television singing competition produced by MediaCorp Studios and FremantleMedia Operations BV. It began airing on MediaCorp Channel 5 on 9 August 2004 until 27 December 2009, as an addition to the Idol franchise based on the British show Pop Idol, and became one of the most popular shows in the history of Singaporean television.

New Zealand Idol, also known as NZ Idol, was the New Zealand version of the Idol series which originated in the United Kingdom as Pop Idol. New Zealand first saw the Idol format when TV2 aired American Idol 2, which garnered impressive ratings. After Australian Idol also received good ratings in New Zealand, TVNZ decided to order the first season of NZ Idol, which was broadcast on TV2. After the third season in 2006, TVNZ made a decision not to fund or broadcast a fourth season, thus placing New Zealand Idol on indefinite hiatus, with no plans to run a fourth season.

Jason Greeley is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador who is best known as a contestant on the second season of Canadian Idol. He released his solo album, Live...Love...Sing... in 2005 and released his self-titled follow-up album in late-2009. Greeley is signed to Royalty Records out of Alberta.

Toya Alexis is a Canadian vocalist and actress from Ajax, Ontario.

The second season of Swedish Idol premiered in August 2005 and continued until its grand finale on 2 December, when 17-year-old Agnes Carlsson from Vänersborg was crowned winner. The series was the first to crown a female Idol and is to date the sole season to be won by either a public or judges' wildcard contestant. Of the over 120 Idol winners worldwide, Carlsson is one of only three who gained a place in the finals as a judges' wildcard. The others are 2003 Canadian Idol winner Ryan Malcolm and 2007 Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci. Carlsson has since become the most successful recording artist in the show's history.

Pete Lesperance is a Canadian guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead guitarist for the Canadian hard rock band Harem Scarem. Lesperance was born October 13, 1968, in Scarborough, Ontario. Lesperance was a guitarist in the Oshawa metal band Minotaur before forming Harem Scarem with Blind Vengeance vocalist Harry Hess in 1987.

The second season of Canadian Idol debuted on June 1, 2004, and became the most watched show in Canada, drawing in over 3 million viewers each week.

The second season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar premiered in September 2003 and continued until 13 March 2004. It was won by Elli Erl. The season was co-hosted by Michelle Hunziker and Carsten Spengemann.

Low Level Flight is a Canadian five-piece alternative rock band formed in 2006 in Toronto by lead singer Ryan Malcolm. They have released two albums so far: Urgency (2007) and Through These Walls (2011). LLF toured much of Canada, the US, Mexico and Asia in support of their debut album, which was produced by Mike Borkosky. The band had three top ten videos and two top 40 singles from the album. LLF spent much of 2010 writing and recording Through These Walls with acclaimed producer Gus van Go. With distribution through Fontana North.

The fifth season of Australian Idol premiered on 5 August 2007 on Network Ten. It concluded on 25 November.

The fourth season of Australian Idol began on 6 August 2006 and concluded on 26 November.

The first season of Australian Idol was produced by Fremantle Media subsidiary Grundy Television in association with UK company 19TV, and was broadcast on Network Ten for 19 weeks in the latter half of 2003. The judges were Mark Holden, Marcia Hines and Ian "Dicko" Dickson.

The second and most recent series of British reality television show Pop Idol aired on ITV on from 13 September to 20 December 2003. Michelle McManus was announced as the winner and received a £1 million recording contract to release her debut album. Ant & Dec returned to present the show on ITV, whilst Simon Cowell, Neil Fox, Nicki Chapman and Pete Waterman all returned as judges.
