The Cape Unicorns Polocrosse Club [1] is based at the Paarl Diamant equestrian school, situated next to the R44 (Western Cape) on the Western side of Paarl Mountain, within the Western Cape province of South Africa. [2]
The club is affiliated to the Western Province Polocrosse Association, which is affiliated to the Polocrosse Association of South Africa (PASA). [3] The club is currently the biggest within the Western Province Polocrosse Association.
The Cape Unicorns A-Division team emerged as the winners of the 2008 South African Polocrosse Championships, where 39 teams from throughout South Africa competed at the Noodsberg Country Club in Kwazulu-Natal.
Jan Albert Steenkamp represented the Cape Unicorns within the South African national team during the 2007 Polocrosse World Cup, held in Australia at Morgan Park in the city of Warwick, Queensland. [4] [5]

Polocrosse is a team sport that is a combination of polo and lacrosse. It is played outside, on a field, on horseback. Each rider uses a cane or fibreglass stick to which is attached a racquet head with a loose, thread net, in which the ball is carried. The ball is made of sponge rubber and is approximately four inches across. The objective is to score goals by throwing the ball between the opposing team's goal posts.
Marius Charl Joubert is a South African rugby union player who played as a centre for Stormers in Super Rugby. He has previously played for the Boland Cavaliers, Free State Cheetahs, ASM Clermont Auvergne and Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Stormers and the Cheetahs in Super Rugby. Joubert was educated at Paarl Gimnasium, alongside current Springboks and former Western Province and Stormers teammates De Wet Barry and Jean de Villiers. A few years later, the same school produced another current Springbok star in Schalk Burger.

The Cape Town Stadium is an association football (soccer) and rugby union stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, that was built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. During the planning stage, it was known as the Green Point Stadium, which was the name of the older stadium on an adjacent site, and this name was also used frequently during World Cup media coverage. The Boland is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the Boland region, in the South African province of Western Cape, in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by the Boland Cricket Board (BCB) and plays its home games at Boland Park in Paarl. At organisational level, the BCB is responsible for the administration and development of cricket in the region and among its primary functions are management and promotion of the Boland team. The current BCB was founded in 1992 as a merger between the Boland Cricket Union and an earlier Boland Cricket Board.
Cornelius Petrus Johannes "Corné" Krige is a retired South African rugby union player. He played flanker for Western Province in the Currie Cup, the Stormers in Super Rugby and captained the South African national side, the Springboks.
CapeTownSpursF.C. is a South African professional football club based in Parow in the city of Cape Town that plays in the National First Division. Dutch Eredivisie club AFC Ajax was their parent club and majority shareholder after a merger of both Cape Town Spurs and Seven Stars in January 1999 until selling its shares in September 2020.
Western Province is the team representing Western Cape province in domestic first-class cricket in South Africa. The team began playing in January 1890 and its main venue has always been Newlands in Cape Town. Under the reorganisation of professional South African cricket in the 1990s and more recently, Western Province joined with Boland to form the side that now plays in the SuperSport Series under the name Cape Cobras and divides its time between Newlands and the Boland Park ground in Paarl. Western Province still competes under its provincial name in the UCB Provincial series. As Western Province, the team won the SuperSport Series 18 times.

August Frederick 'Oubaas Mark' Markötter (1878–1957) was a South African rugby union player and national selector who coached Stellenbosch Rugby Football Club from 1903-57. As coach he not only turned Maties into the world's largest rugby club but forged 50 of his players into Springboks and got nearly 150 of his players selected for the Western Province team. Eleven of the 1906 Springbok touring squad to Britain "had developed under him at Stellenbosch".
Jean-Luc du Plessis is a South African rugby union player for the Stormers in Super Rugby and for Western Province in the Currie Cup and the Rugby Challenge. His regular position is fly-half.
Dane Paterson is a South African professional cricketer. He made his international debut for the South Africa cricket team in 2017. He plays for Eastern Province in domestic matches.
