Biography
Conlon was born and raised in Noranda, Quebec. He graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario where he received a bachelor's degree in law and sociology. In 1987, he left his 12-year career as a police officer to enter full-time ministry. He founded a church, a Christian school, and a food bank in Riceville, Canada. He owned and operated a sheep farm as well. [2] During those years, he also traveled throughout the country—speaking at various churches from Prince Edward Island to Alberta, to the Inuit in the Arctic.
In 1994, he joined the pastoral staff of Times Square Church at the invitation of founding pastor, David Wilkerson. [3] He was appointed to the office of senior pastor in 2001. [4] Conlon announced in February 2020 that he would be stepping down as Senior Pastor of Times Square Church in May of the same year, passing the leadership to Tim Dilena, in order to focus on his radio ministry, speaking and writing books. He and his wife, Teresa, have three children and eight grandchildren. [6]
Ministry
Times Square Church
Located at 237 West 51st in Manhattan, Times Square Church is an interdenominational church with more than 10,000 people in attendance, representing more than 100 different nationalities. [7] Their pastors believe that God has ordained the church to be a testimony of God's love and mercy to New York City and beyond. A major emphasis at Times Square Church is giving aid to the poor, the hungry, the destitute and the addicted.
Prayer in the Square
In 2006, Conlon called together the churches of New York City to congregate for one hour of prayer in Times Square. As a result, Prayer in the Square was birthed and Christians from all denominations assembled on Broadway. The prayer gathering grew to 80,000 live and 17.1 million online 2021 [8] and 50,000 in 2009. Conlon and the Times Square Church choir led this event that was attended by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as he declared that Sunday as Prayer in the Square Day. [9]
For Pastors Only
In 2010, Conlon created "For Pastors Only" in response to multiple requests he received from ministers seeking spiritual fathering. This online resource airs bi-weekly devotionals recorded by Conlon and an advisory team, currently accessed by more than 5,000 pastors worldwide. [10]
Radio Syndication
Conlon's 1-minute daily devotionals, It's Time to Pray, are broadcast on over 300 Christian radio stations nationwide 5 days per week, summoning the nation to prayer, [11] and are featured on 1010 WINS, the nation's most listened to all-news station.
ChildCry
In 2004, Conlon traveled with a team of more than 200 people from Times Square Church to Zambia to hold evangelistic and humanitarian outreaches. [12] After witnessing the plight of children living on the streets there, he began to pray about ways to help. This led to the establishment of ChildCry in 2005—a ministry of Times Square Church which currently provides more than 4,000 meals a day for children in over 22 countries. [13]
Feed New York
In 2012, Conlon initiated "Feed New York," where Times Square Church began to underwrite a number of churches in New York City with $1,000 worth of food every month. The goal was to provide up to 100 churches with a way to offer food, prayer, and hope to those in need in their neighborhoods. Although it began as a one-year initiative, Feed New York continues to support over 10,000 New Yorkers every month through food assistance programs within the five boroughs. [14]
Worldwide Prayer Meeting
In 2015, Conlon launched the World Wide Prayer meeting at Times Square Church. Every Tuesday night thousands of Christians gather to pray at Times Square Church, either attending in person or by participating through live streaming. This powerful service welcomes interactive involvement. Individuals send requests for prayer via the Internet, which are often immediately prayed over during the meeting. Churches and individuals in 199 countries and territories combine their prayers with that of Times Square Church's congregation every week. Since its inception, the World Wide Prayer meeting has received over 200,000 prayer requests and witnessed innumerable answers to prayer. [15]

To date he regularly speaks at World Challenge's Renewing Your Passion for Christ conferences, Conference Paris For Christ and for the Summer Fire Conference in Cork, Ireland. Pastor Conlon has also had the privilege of ministering for the Family Research Council's Watchmen on the Wall. [16]

A church service is a formalized period of Christian communal worship, often held in a church building. It often but not exclusively occurs on Sunday, or Saturday in the case of those churches practicing seventh-day Sabbatarianism. The church service is the gathering together of Christians to be taught the "Word of God" and encouraged in their faith. Technically, the "church" in "church service" refers to the gathering of the faithful rather than to the building in which it takes place. In most Christian traditions, services are presided over by clergy wherever possible. Styles of service vary greatly, from the Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Reformed, Roman Catholic, and Lutheran traditions of liturgical worship to informal worship characterized by certain free church traditions, common among Methodists and Baptists, that often combine worship with teaching for the believers, which may also have an evangelistic component appealing to backsliders and the non-Christians in the congregation. Most Christian denominations hold church services on the Lord's Day ; a number of traditions have mid-week Wednesday evening services as well. In some Christian denominations, church services are held daily, with these including those in which the seven canonical hours are prayed, as well as the offering of the Mass, among other forms of worship. In addition to this, many Christians attend services on holy days such as Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Ascension Thursday, among others depending on the Christian denomination.
David Ray Wilkerson was an American Christian evangelist, best known for his book The Cross and the Switchblade. He was the founder of the addiction recovery program Teen Challenge, and founding pastor of the interdenominational Times Square Church in New York City.
Greg Laurie is an American evangelical author, pastor and evangelist who serves as the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, based in Riverside, California. He also is the founder of Harvest Crusades. Laurie is also the subject of the 2023 film Jesus Revolution, which tells the story of how he converted to Christianity and got his start in ministry in the midst of the Jesus movement.
Times Square Church is an interdenominational congregation located at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on 237 West 51st Street in the Theater District of Manhattan in New York City. Times Square Church was founded by Pastor David Wilkerson in 1987 and bought the Mark Hellinger Theatre in 1991.
Rodney Morgan Howard-Browne is a South African-born American evangelist and conspiracy theorist. He has resided in Tampa, Florida since the mid-1990s and is pastor of The River Church in Tampa Bay. The River is considered both Pentecostal and Charismatic with revival meetings, led by Howard-Browne, known for those in the audience breaking into "holy laughter" and experiencing other phenomena similar to the Great Awakenings and Azusa Street Revival. Robert Stearns is an American pastor and Evangelical Christian leader who founded Eagles' Wings Ministries located in Clarence, New York and currently pastors the historic Tabernacle Church in Orchard Park, New York. A "leading voice in the Christian Zionist movement," Stearns is the leader and co-founder of the annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem: The single largest international Christian Zionist event and during which thousands of churches worldwide pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Currently, he resides in Clarence, New York with his three sons. They have begun to follow in his musical footsteps by forming a music collective called The Brothers of Mercy.
