History

In 2007 the Youth Desk of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences initiated a meeting of Catholic youth organizations active in Asia. [5] COYA was founded in 2008. [1]

World Youth Day 1995 was a Catholic youth festival that took place from January 10–15, 1995 in Manila, Philippines. It was the first time for an Asian country to host the event. Pope John Paul II presided over the event, marking his second trip to the country as Pope after his visit in 1981, and also the last papal visit in the country of the 20th century and 2nd millennium.

Catholic Church in Europe

The Catholic Church in Europe is part of the worldwide Catholic Church in full communion with the Holy See in Rome, including represented Eastern Catholic missions. Demographically, Catholics are the largest religious group in Europe, while church attendance has declined in the past decades.

It gives the official name, acronym, date of establishment, history, identity, organization, membership, works, publications, and website of the communities and movements.

A base community is a relatively autonomous Christian religious group that operates according to a particular model of community, worship, and study of the Bible. The concept of a base community is often associated with liberation theology. The 1968 Medellín, Colombia, meeting of Latin American Council of Bishops played a major role in popularizing them under the name Basic ecclesial communities. These are small groups, originating in the Catholic Church in Latin America, who meet to reflect upon scripture and apply its lessons to their situation.

Oswald Gracias

Oswald Gracias is an Indian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was appointed Latin Church Archbishop of Bombay by Pope Benedict XVI on 14 October 2006 and was raised to the cardinalate in 2007. In 2008, he became vice-president of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India; and in 2010, he was elected president. He was also elected secretary general and then president of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences from 2010 to 2019. On 13 April 2013, he was appointed to the eight-member Council of Cardinals, informally the Council of Cardinal Advisers, established by Pope Francis to help with governing the Catholic Church and reforming its central administration. He was mentioned as a possible candidate to succeed Pope Benedict XVI in 2013.

Stanisław Ryłko

Stanisław Marian Ryłko is a Polish Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He held positions in the Roman Curia beginning in 1987 and was president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity from 2003 to 2016. He was made a cardinal in 2007. He has been Archpriest of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore since 28 December 2016.

P. Antonyraj Sampath Kumar was an Indian New Testament scholar who was the President of the Society for Biblical Studies in India, and was the Escande Chair of Asian Christian Studies at Pondicherry University and was the Chief Warden of the Pondicherry University Hostels. He was a Roman Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore.

Catholic laity

Catholic laity are the ordinary members of the Catholic Church who are neither clergy nor recipients of Holy Orders or vowed to life in a religious order or congregation. Their mission, according to the Second Vatican Council, is to "sanctify the world".

Fernando Capalla

Fernando Robles Capalla is a Roman Catholic archbishop-emeritus of the Archdiocese of Davao. He was born on November 1, 1934 in Leon, Iloilo Province. He was succeeded by Romulo Valles as archbishop of Davao on February 11, 2012.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei (C.B.C.M.S.B.) is the episcopal conference of the Catholic bishops of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Taiwan Youth Day is a youth-oriented Catholic Church event in Taiwan, organized by Youth Desk of Chinese Regional Bishops' Conference (CRBC). Seven dioceses in Taiwan take turn to plan and execute TYD. In 2004, the first ever TYD was created and it was decided to hold it every three years. However, in 2008, they have decided to have the TYD once a year.

The FIMCAP, which is short for Fédération Internationale des Mouvements Catholiques d’Action Paroissiale, is an umbrella organization for Catholic youth organizations. Its 31 member organizations are based in 28 countries. The FIMCAP was founded in 1962 and is recognised as an official Catholic organization by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. FIMCAP is also a full member of the European Youth Forum.

The Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC) is an association of episcopal conferences of Catholic Church in South, Southeast, East and Central Asia. The federation fosters solidarity and joint responsibility for the welfare of the Church and of society in the region.

Charles Maung Bo

Charles Maung Bo is a Burmese Catholic prelate who has served as Archbishop of Yangon since 7 June 2003. He was created a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2015.

Asian Youth Day (AYD) is an international event organized by the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences, Office of Laity & Family, Youth Desk and the host country. The event, which is held every three years, brings together Catholic youths from all over Asia. The event is similar to the World Youth Day.

Julio Xavier Labayen Filipino catholic priest (1926–2016)

Julio Xavier Labayen OCD STL JCL DD was a Filipino Discalced Carmelite and a Roman Catholic bishop. Ordained to the priesthood in 1955, he served as bishop of the Territorial Prelature of Infanta, Philippines from 1966 until 2003. He was among the first Filipino Discalced Carmelites in the 1950s. He was the first Filipino Discalced Carmelite bishop and the second bishop of the Prelature of Infanta.

The Catholic Youth Organization Nigeria is a Catholic youth organization in Nigeria. CYO Nigeria is a member of the Catholic umbrella of youth organizations Fimcap.

Hatsal Youth Ministry Institute is a Catholic organization in South Korea providing formation for people working in youth ministry as well as research on topics related to youth ministry and a network for the Catholic youth ministries in South Korea. Hatsal is a member of the umbrella of Catholic youth organizations Fimcap.

Bishop James Thoppil is the serving Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kohima.

Clemens Mendonca is an Indian theologian and Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of Religion. She worked as Managing Director at the Institute for the Study of Religion. She later continued her career as a lecturer at the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC) and has been an advisor for its theology department since 2004. She is currently the Director for the Institute for the Study of Religion and secretariat of the FABC-OEIA.
