The South African Communist Party (SACP) is a communist party in South Africa. It was founded in 1921 as the Communist Party of South Africa (CPSA), tactically dissolved itself in 1950 in the face of being declared illegal by the governing National Party under the Suppression of Communism Act, 1950. The Communist Party was reconstituted underground and re-launched as the SACP in 1953, participating in the struggle to end the apartheid system. It is a member of the ruling Tripartite Alliance alongside the African National Congress and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and through this it influences the South African government. The party's Central Committee is the party's highest decision-making structure.
Geraldine Joslyn Fraser-Moleketi is a South African politician who was the Minister of Public Service and Administration from June 1999 to September 2008. Before that, from July 1996 to June 1999, she was Minister of Welfare and Population Development. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 1994 to 2008 and is a former deputy chairperson of the South African Communist Party (SACP).
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) is the party's chief executive organ. It is elected every five years at the party’s national conference; the executive committee, in turn, elects a National Working Committee for day-to-day decision-making responsibilities. The 27th South African Parliament is the sixth Parliament of South Africa to convene since the introduction of non-racial government in South Africa in 1994. It was elected in the general election of 8 May 2019 and consists of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. The National Assembly contains 400 members, while the National Council of Provinces contains 90 members. It was formally opened by President Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address in a joint sitting on 20 June 2019.

She was also a member of the Central Committee of the South African Communist Party and a former member of the ANC National Executive Committee and the ANC Women's League National Executive Committee.
Mlibo Qoboshiyane is a South African politician who has been serving as Deputy Speaker of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since 17 May 2018. Before that, he was the Eastern Cape's Member of the Executive Council for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform from 2014 to 2018 under Premier Phumulo Masualle.
Mluleki Dlelanga is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since 2019. He previously served in the legislature from May 2014 to February 2016. He was National Secretary of the Young Communist League of the South African Communist Party (SACP) from 2014 to 2018 and he was elected to a five-year term on the Central Committee of the SACP in 2022.
Pandelani "Sparks" Ramagoma was a South African politician and civil servant who served as Limpopo's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Public Works for three months until his death in a car accident in 2009. A former anti-apartheid activist, Ramagoma was a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and served on the party's Provincial Executive Committee. At the time of his death, he was also the Provincial Chairperson of the Limpopo branch of the South African Communist Party.
Mandla Makupula was a South African politician who served as the Eastern Cape's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) from November 2010 until his death in October 2018. He had represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since 1999.
Joyce Clementine Moloi-Moropa is a South African politician who has been the treasurer of the South African Communist Party (SACP) since 2012. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2008 to 2016 and before that from 2001 to 2004. She chaired Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications from 2014 until her resignation at the end of February 2016, and in that capacity she was frequently at odds with the communications ministry and board of the SABC.
