Chadron State College (CSC) is a public college in Chadron, Nebraska. It is one of three public colleges in the Nebraska State College System. It practices open admissions.

Donald Lee Beebe is an American former football wide receiver and coach who is the head football coach at Aurora University. He previously played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, primarily with the Buffalo Bills. In addition to his six seasons with the Bills, who selected him in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft, he was a member of the Carolina Panthers during their inaugural season and played for the Green Bay Packers in his last two seasons.
The SFU Red Leafs or Simon Fraser Red Leafs teams represent Simon Fraser University (SFU), which is located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The Red Leafs are members of NCAA Division II and are the only Canadian university affiliated with the U.S.-based National Collegiate Athletic Association. The teams previously used the nicknames "Clan" and "Clansmen," which were used as a tribute to the Scottish heritage of the university's namesake, Simon Fraser. The names were retired in 2020 due to the negative connotation surrounding those terms. In September 2022, the updated nickname "Red Leafs" was announced.

He played college football as a running back for the Chadron State Eagles and was signed by the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He also played for the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles, formerly known as the Normalites and the Hurons, are the athletic teams for Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States. The Eagles compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The only exception is the women's rowing program, which is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. Altogether, the Eagles have won three NCAA Division II national championships and 13 NAIA Division I national championships in five different sports ; moreover, EMU has been NCAA Division I national runner-up twice. In 1940, the men's cross country team finished second to Indiana University at the national meet hosted by Michigan State University.

Bill O'Boyle is an American football coach and former player. He is the current offensive line coach at Northwestern University. O'Boyle served as the head football coach at Chadron State College from 2005 to 2011. In 2007, he was awarded the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award for NCAA Division II.
The Central Oklahoma Bronchos football team represents the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in college football. The team is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), which is in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Bronchos football program began in 1902 and has since compiled over 600 wins, two national championships, and 27 conference championships. As of 2022, the Bronchos are ranked fifth in NCAA Division II for wins. In 1962, the Bronchos went 11–0 on the season and defeated Lenoir–Rhyne University (NC) 28–13 in the Camellia Bowl to claim its first NAIA national championship. Twenty years later, Central Oklahoma defended its home turf and defeated Colorado Mesa University 14–11 in the NAIA national championship game to take its second title and finish the season with a 10–2 record. Despite its rich history in football, Central Oklahoma has struggled beginning in the late 2000s. The program has not participated in the NCAA Division II playoffs since 2003. The Bronchos play their home games at Chad Richison Stadium, a 12,000-seat football stadium built in 1965, and remodeled in 2022. The Bronchos have enjoyed nine undefeated home seasons and are 5–1 in playoff games at Wantland Stadium.

The 2007 Chadron State Eagles football team represented Chadron State College as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) during the 2007 NCAA Division II football season. Led by head coach Bill O'Boyle and record-setting running back and Harlon Hill Trophy winner Danny Woodhead, the Eagles compiled an overall record of 12–1 with a mark of 8–0 in conference play, winning the RMAC title. After an 11–0 regular season, Chadron State advanced to the NCAA Division II Football Championship playoffs and received a first-round bye. The Eagles beat Abilene Christian in the second round in triple overtime by a score of 76–73. It was the highest scoring game in NCAA football history. Chadron State lost to Northwest Missouri State in the quarterfinals.
The 2000 UC Davis football team represented the University of California, Davis as an independent during the 2000 NCAA Division II football season. Led by eighth-year head coach Bob Biggs, UC Davis compiled an overall record of 12–1. 2000 was the 31st consecutive winning season for the Aggies. UC Davis was ranked No. 1 in West Region of the NCAA Division II poll at the end of the regular season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Football Championship playoffs for the fifth straight year. The Aggies defeated Chadron State, ranked fourth in the West Region, in the first round and Mesa State, ranked third in West, in the quarterfinals before losing in semifinal round to the third-ranked team in the Northeast Region, Bloomsburg. The team averaged 48 points per game, outscoring their opponents 622 to 258 for the season. The Aggies played home games at Toomey Field in Davis, California.
