Chapel Hill Independent School District is a public school district based in unincorporated Smith County, Texas (USA), near Tyler. [1] The district is located in east central Smith County and covers the city of New Chapel Hill, the community of Jackson, and a small portion of Tyler.

Smith County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 209,714. Its county seat is Tyler. Smith County is named for James Smith, a general during the Texas Revolution.

Travis State Office Building in downtown Austin. Mike Morath, formerly a member of the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees, was appointed commissioner of education by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 14, 2015, and began serving on Jan. 4, 2016.
