The Chief of the Navy (Somali : Taaliyaha Ciidamada Badda Somaaliyeed) is the head of the Naval operations and the administrative head in the Somali Navy, and is under the Chief of Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence (Somalia). The current Chief of the Navy is Commodore Admiral Abdihamid Mohamed Dirir.

The Somali Police Force is the national police force and the main civil law enforcement agency of Somalia. As with most other police forces in the world, its duties include crime fighting, traffic control, maintaining public safety, counter-terrorism. It is under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Public Security.

Majiyohan, is a town in the northeastern Bari region of Somalia. Situated in the autonomous Puntland region. It is located at the northern foothills of the eastern end of the Galgala Mountains, which extend from east to west. It is mainly inhabited by the Dubays branch of the Warsangali clan.

Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151) is a multinational naval task force, set up in 2009 as a response to piracy attacks in the Gulf of Aden and off the eastern coast of Somalia. Its mission is to disrupt piracy and armed robbery at sea and to engage with regional and other partners to build capacity and improve relevant capabilities in order to protect global maritime commerce and secure freedom of navigation. It operates in conjunction with the EU's Operation Atalanta and NATO's Operation Ocean Shield.

Admiral Sir Philip Andrew Jones, is a retired senior Royal Navy officer. After service in the South Atlantic in 1982 during the Falklands War, he commanded the frigates HMS Beaver and HMS Coventry. He went on to be Flag Officer, Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland, Commander United Kingdom Maritime Forces and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff before being appointed Fleet Commander and Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff. Jones served as First Sea Lord from April 2016 to June 2019.

Zakia Hussein, also known as Zakia Hussein Ahmed, is a Somali politician. In August 2018, she became the first woman and youngest Deputy Chief of Somali Police Force. Hussein has survived two assassination attempts. She is the Secretary General of the Hanoolaato Party, a Somali youth advocacy group. In June 2014, she was appointed the new Director of Community Policing at the Somali Police Force. The first woman in many years to hold a senior position within the SPF, she wa a full colonel and chief commander of community policing and public relations at the Mogadishu-based national agency. Zakia Hussein hails from the Surre sub-division of the wider Dir clan. Additionally, she holds a British citizenship.

The Somaliland Coast Guard is the maritime law enforcement, search and rescue and coastal defence branch of Somaliland Armed Forces, founded on 2 October 1995.

The Jubaland DarawiishForce is a paramilitary force that forms the security unit of Jubaland, an autonomous federated state in southern Somalia. The Jubaland Darawiish started operating under the administration of Ahmed Madobe. Headquartered in Kismayo, one of its primary bases is located in Afmadow. Jubaland president Madobe has said that the force aims to focus on counter-terrorism and provocative actors within the state of Jubaland. The unit is commanded by Lt. Col Mahad Islaam.

The Chief of the Air Force is the head of aerial warfare operations and the administrative head of the Somali Air Force. They are under the Chief of Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. The current Chief of the Air Force is Brigadier General Mohamud Sheikh Ali.

El Baraf is a village in the Middle Shabelle, Somalia. It is a transportation hub at the junction of roads and had been effectively controlled by the Islamic militant group Al-Shabaab since 2009 and by the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) since 2016.
