The Liberal Party (LP) is a pro-Beijing,pro-business,and conservative political party in Hong Kong. Led by Tommy Cheung and chaired by Peter Shiu,it holds four seats in the Legislative Council,and holds five seats in the District Councils.
Timothy Fok Tsun-ting,GBS,JP,the eldest son of Henry Fok,is the President of the Hong Kong Football Association. He formerly represented the Sports,Performing Arts,Culture and Publication functional constituency between 1998 and 2012. While he was not affiliated with any political party,he caucused with the conservative wing of LegCo.
Vincent Fang Kang,GBS,JP is the leader of the Liberal Party of Hong Kong. He is a Hong Kong entrepreneur in the garment industry and a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong,representing the Wholesale and Retail functional constituency.
Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung,GBS,JP is a non-official member of the Executive Council (Exco) and member of the Legislative Council (Legco),representing the Commercial (First) functional constituency. He is currently the vice-chairman of the pro-business pro-Beijing Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong (BPA).
Ip Kwok-him,GBM,GBS,JP is a former unofficial member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong,served between 2016 and 2022. He is also former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for the District Council (First) functional constituency and Hong Kong delegate to the National People's Congress and the former convenor of the caucus of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) in the Legislative Council. He was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM) by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2017.
The Co-operative Resources Centre was a short-lived political group in the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo). Led by the Senior Unofficial Member of the Executive and Legislative Councils Allen Lee,it was established on 12 December 1991 by a group of 21 appointed and indirectly elected Legislative Council members from the functional constituencies. It became the largest conservative faction in the legislature countering the pro-democracy United Democrats of Hong Kong (UDHK) won a landslide victory in the first direct Legislative Council election in 1991. In 1993,it was transformed into the Liberal Party.
The Neo Democrats was a pro-democracy,localist political group in Hong Kong composed mainly of former and disenchanted members of the Democratic Party New Territories East branch after the 2012 constitutional reform proposals. It had held one seat in the Legislative Council until Gary Fan lost his re-election in the 2016 Legislative Council election. Fan won the seat back in the 2018 by-election,but lost his seat after a court declared that he was not duly elected. It held 8 seats in the District Councils before its dissolution on 26 June 2021.
The 1988 Hong Kong Legislative Council election was an indirect election for members of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo);was held on 22 September 1988. It was the second ever election of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong history based on the 1987 Review of Developments in Representative Government,as the Government's democratisation process according to the agreement of the Sino-British Joint Declaration. There were 12 members elected by Electoral Colleges,14 members from functional constituencies.
Christopher Chung Shu-kun,SBS,JP was elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 2012,representing the Hong Kong Island constituency. He is also former chairman of Eastern District Council,and a former councillor from 1991 to 2015,representing the Yue Wan constituency. He is a veteran member of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong,the flagship pro-Beijing party in Hong Kong. He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2017.
Fung Chi-kin is a Hong Kong politician. He was a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for Financial Services in 1998 and 2000,substituting for Chim Pui-chung who was jailed for conspiring to forge documents and was impeached and disqualified as a legislator by Legco.
The First Legislative Council of Hong Kong was the first meeting of the legislative branch of the HKSAR government after the handover of Hong Kong,replacing the Provisional Legislative Council existing between 1997 and 1998. The membership of the LegCo is based on the 1998 election. It had the shortest term of the session was from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 2000,only two years unlike the latter legislative session of four years. The legislature was held during the first term of the Tung Chee-hwa's administration. The pro-democracy camp who did not participate in the Provisional Legislative Council held 20 seats with Democratic Party being the largest party. Notable newcomers to the Legislative Council included Cyd Ho,Bernard Chan,Lui Ming-wah,and Wong Yung-kan.
The 2016 Hong Kong Legislative Council election was held on 4 September 2016 for the 6th Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo). A total of 70 members,35 from geographical constituencies (GCs) and 35 from functional constituencies (FCs),were returned. The election came after the rejection of the 2016/2017 constitutional reform proposals which suggested the electoral method for the 2016 Legislative Council remains unchanged.
Holden Chow Ho-ding is a Hong Kong solicitor and politician. He is vice-chairman of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB),the largest pro-Beijing party in Hong Kong,and a former chairman of Young DAB,its youth wing. He was elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 2016,through the District Council (Second) "super seat". He was re-elected in 2021 through the New Territories North West geographical constituency.
Au Nok-hin is a pro-democracy politician in Hong Kong. He is the former member of the Legislative Council for Hong Kong Island from 2018 to 2019 and member of the Southern District Council for Lei Tung I from 2012 to 2019.
Ted Hui Chi-fung is a Hong Kong politician. He formerly represented the Chung Wan constituency in the Central and Western District Council,and formerly he was the Legislative Councillor for the Hong Kong Island constituency. Fearing prosecution by the Government of Hong Kong,he announced his self-exile in Denmark and withdrawal from the Democratic Party in December 2020.
Cheng Chung-tai is a Hong Kong academic,social activist,and politician. After winning a seat in the New Territories West constituency in the 2016 legislative election,he took over from Wong Yeung-tat as chairman of Civic Passion until the dissolution in 2021.
The 2018 Kowloon West by-election was held on 25 November 2018 after the incumbent pro-democracy Legislative Councillor Lau Siu-lai of Kowloon West was disqualified from the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo) after the oath-taking controversy resulted in the disqualifications of the six pro-democracy and localist legislators. It followed the by-election of four other vacated seats on 11 March 2018. Chan Hoi-yan,a nonpartisan backed by the pro-Beijing camp won over veteran democrat Lee Cheuk-yan of the Labour Party,a backup candidate for the pro-democracy camp after Lau's candidacy was disqualified.
The 2018 Hong Kong Legislative Council by-election was held on 11 March 2018 for four of the six vacancies in the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (LegCo) - the Hong Kong Island,Kowloon West and New Territories East geographical constituencies and the Architectural,Surveying,Planning and Landscape functional constituency - resulting from the disqualification of six pro-democrat and localist Legislative Council members over the 2016 oath-taking controversy. The by-election for the two other seats was not held due to pending legal appeals by the two disqualified legislators.
Henry Wong Pak-yu is a Hong Kong politician and social activist. He is the spokesman of the local community group Tin Shui Wai New Force and also a member of the Information Technology subsector in the Election Committee. In 2019,he won in the District Council election and became a member the Yuen Long District Council for Tin Heng.
The 1998 Financial Services by-election was originally scheduled on 5 November 1998 after impeachment of the incumbent Legislative Councillor Chim Pui-chung for conspiring to forge documents. Fung Chi-kin from the Hong Kong Progressive Alliance and was declared elected on 16 October after uncontested,retaining the seat for the pro-Beijing camp. This was the first legislative by-election after the handover of Hong Kong.
