Lieutenant General Sagat Singh, PVSM was a General Officer in the Indian Army, notable for his participation in liberation of Goa and later in Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. He held many commands and staff appointments throughout his career.
On 25 March 1971, the Pakistani military, supported by paramilitary units, launched the military operation to pacify the insurgent-held areas of East Pakistan, which led to a prolonged conflict with the Bengali Mukti Bahini. Although conventional in nature during March–May 1971, it soon turned into a guerrilla insurgency from June of that year. Indian Army had not directly supported the Bengali resistance but had launched Operation Jackpot to support the insurgency from May 1971.
Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan is a retired Bangladeshi general who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from 2012 to 2015. He took office of army chief at 25 June 2012 and retired on 25 June 2015. He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on 19 March 1976 and was commissioned on 30 November 1976 in the Corps of Infantry. Iqbal had a diversified and fine mix of all three types of appointment available in army. During 39 years in Bangladesh Army, He commanded three infantry battalions, an infantry brigade and three divisions. He also served as chief of general staff, colonel staff of a division, and platoon commander of Bangladesh Military Academy. He participated in Operation Desert Storm and received 'Liberation of Kuwait Medal'.
Mustafizur Rahman was a Bangladeshi Army general who served as the Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army from December 1997 until 23 December 2000.

He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.
Major General (Retd) Mohammad Humayun Kabir, OSP, SUP, rcds, psc, was a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. As Major General he served as the Commander Logistics Area Dhaka Cantonment of Bangladesh Army. He served in various command and headquarters formations. He served as Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army, Commandant of the Bangladesh Military Academy, the Director of Military Operations-Army headquarters and also the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry division and 17 Infantry division.
Sheikh Mohammad Shafiuddin Ahmed is a four star general of the Bangladesh Army and the current Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army since June 2021. Prior to his appointment as CAS, he served as the quartermaster general (QMG) of Bangladesh Army as a lieutenant general. In his 40 year long military career he has also served as director general of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS), Director of Military Training (DMT), besides commanding an infantry brigade and an infantry division.

He also served as Colonel GS and Deputy Director General of DGFI. Brigadier General Md. Muhsin Alam, ndc, psc, commanded two infantry battalions of the Bangladesh Army. He also served as the Brigade Commander of an Infantry Brigade. The Brigadier was the pioneer Brigade Commander of the only Para Commando Brigade of the Bangladesh Army. In 2019, on behalf of, the Para Commando Brigade, Brigadier General Muhsin received the raising flag from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. This entitles him to be a flag officer. He served at DRC as the Northern Sector Commander of MONUSCO.
Mizanur Rahman Shameem is a Lieutenant General in the Bangladesh Army who is currently principal staff officer of the Prime Minister's Office, Armed Forces Division. Before that he served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 9th Infantry Division and Area Commander of Savar Area. Prior to join the current appointment, he served as GOC of the 24th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Chattagram Area. He also served as Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party. He also served as the GOC of the 19th Infantry Division and Area Commander, Ghatail Area. He served as the Director of National Security Intelligence (NSI) and commanded one Infantry Brigades in Bogura. He won a gallantry award for conduct of an operation in Chittagong Hill tracts.
Waker-uz-Zaman is a Lieutenant general of the Bangladesh Army; he is the present chief of general staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army.
SM Kamrul Hassan is a two-star general of the Bangladesh Army. As Major General he is currently appointed as Senior Directing Staff at National Defence College, prior to that he was the Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) and also commanded the 66th Infantry Division and Rangpur Area, as General-Officer-Commanding (GOC). He was commissioned in the East Bengal Regiment with the 21st BMA Long Course as the top cadet in weapons training.
