Chris Hernandez is an American former reporter for KSHB-TV in the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area and a current municipal official in Kansas City's Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity department.
Hernandez is a native of Shawnee, Kansas, [1] and received a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. [2]
From 1992 until 1999, Hernandez was a reporter for WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Missouri. [3] [4] Prior to that, he had been a reporter for KFDA-TV in Amarillo, Texas. [5]
From 1999 until January 2002, Hernandez worked as a general assignment reporter for WEWS-TV in Cleveland; [6] Hernandez then joined WBBM-TV in Chicago as a general assignment reporter. In April 2004, Hernandez left the station and spent four months backpacking through Mexico and Central America. [7] [8] Once he was done traveling, Hernandez returned to Kansas City in late 2004 to work at KSHB-TV. [8]
In August 2012, Hernandez left KSHB to take a marketing position with the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City. [1]
In 2013, Hernandez resigned from the Unicorn Theatre to take a job working at City Hall in Kansas City, Missouri, as communications director. [9]
In August 2022, Hernandez was demoted from the top communications role at City Hall after Hernandez claimed that Kansas City's city manager, Brian Platt, suggested lying to the news media. [10] Hernandez, who remained a city employee as a special liaison in the city's Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity department, [11] sued the city in December 2022 in an employment discrimination lawsuit. [10] In January 2023, Kansas City's attorneys filed a response to the lawsuit, asking the judge to dismiss the case and noting in its motion that regardless of whether the city manager lied, there is no "law, rule or regulation" that prevents lying to the press. Between 1994 and 1996, a wide-ranging realignment of television network affiliations took place in the United States as the result of a multimillion-dollar deal between the Fox Broadcasting Company and New World Communications, announced on May 23, 1994. Unprecedented in the broadcast industry, the deal resulted in twelve stations owned by, or in the process of being purchased by New World, switching network affiliations to Fox over the course of a two-year period when existing contracts expired. These stations were long-standing affiliates of the traditional "Big Three" television networks—CBS, NBC, and ABC—in some of the country's largest markets, with the majority having been aligned with CBS individually for over 40 years.
The KC Streetcar is in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Streetcar system construction began in May 2014 and opened for service on May 6, 2016. It is free to ride, as it is funded by a transportation development district. As of December 2023, the streetcar has had 13 million rides since opening in 2016. Extensions north to the riverfront and south to University of Missouri-Kansas City have been funded, with the southern extension under construction.
Britt Reid is a former American football coach and convicted felon. He most recently served as an outside linebackers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). His coaching career began when he worked for his father Andy Reid as a Practice Squad Coach Intern in 2009 with the Philadelphia Eagles and continued as he worked in multiple defensive coaching positions for his father with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2013 to 2020. Reid won Super Bowl LIV as the Chiefs' linebackers and outside linebackers coach.
