Chronik is a grime MC from Maryland, east London. [1] Active in underground music for a number of years, he has released two solo mixtapes; Blaze More Dan U (2007) and Free Chronik (2011). He released his first album, Rise of the Lengman in 2014. He is known for his underground hit Ring, variously released in Free Chronik and Rise of the Lengman. Chronik is a member of the underground grime group Slew Dem crew along with Tempa T, G-Man and the now deceased Esco "Big Bars".

Biography

Born in 1981 to parents from the West Indies, Chronik attended Tom Hood School (latterly Buxton School) for his secondary education. He is a practising Sunni Muslim. Chronik served a short sentence in prison, with colleagues such as Tempa T calling for his release. Chronik has been described as a legend in the grime scene, alongside the likes of Wiley. [2] [ promotion? ] Since 2012 collaborates with the label WagWan and its representative, Polish rapper Popek. [3]

The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life.

Maxwell Owusu Ansah, known by his stage name Lethal Bizzle, is a British rapper from Walthamstow, London, of Ghanaian origin. He emerged in 2002 as a grime MC as part of More Fire Crew, with their grime single "Oi!" charting in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. His debut solo single "Pow! (Forward)" attracted attention for its aggressive content, charting at number 11 despite being banned from airplay and clubs. Although known notably for his single releases, Lethal Bizzle released his debut studio album, Against All Oddz, in 2005, followed by Back to Bizznizz in 2007.

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the early 2000s. The style emerged as a UK garage offshoot that blended 2-step rhythms and sparse dub production, as well as incorporating elements of broken beat, grime, and drum and bass. In the United Kingdom, the origins of the genre can be traced back to the growth of the Jamaican sound system party scene in the early 1980s.

RWD Magazine is a British-based magazine which features music, style, sport, gaming, film, technology, news, interviews and charts on hip hop, grime, dubstep, R&B, UK garage, drum and bass and U.S. house music. Running from 2001–2014 It was released monthly, distributing 98,300 copies each time and was ABC certified. It was considered the largest magazine on youth music and lifestyle in the United Kingdom.

Boy Better Know, often abbreviated as BBK, is a British grime collective and record label. The collective was founded in North London in 2005 as an independent record label by brothers Jamie and Joseph Adenuga, better known as Jme and Skepta, respectively. The former also serves as a sole owner and director of an associated company, Boy Better Know Limited, incorporated in 2008. All members of the collective use the record label as a means to publish their music, and is digitally distributed by The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music.

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, better known by his stage name Chip, is a British rapper and songwriter from Tottenham, North London. In the past 14 years he has collaborated with the likes of Skepta, T.I., Meek Mill, Young Adz and many others. In 2009, he released his debut album, I Am Chipmunk, featuring four songs which peaked in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, including the chart-topping "Oopsy Daisy". In 2011, Chipmunk released his follow-up album, the American hip hop-influenced Transition. It included the single "Champion" featuring Chris Brown, which peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart.

Jamie Adenuga, known professionally as Jme, is a British grime MC, songwriter, record producer and DJ who was born in Hackney, and raised in Tottenham. He is the co-founder of the crew and label Boy Better Know. He also serves as a sole owner and director of an associated company, Boy Better Know Limited, which he incorporated in 2008. He was previously part of the grime collective Meridian Crew and later Roll Deep alongside his older brother, Skepta.

Trim is an English grime MC from East London and a former member of Roll Deep. Trim has an eclectic subject matter, beat selection and delivery.

Nicky Nyarko-Dei, known by his stage name Tempa T, is a British grime MC originating from East London. He is well known for his 2009 single "Next Hype", considered an anthem of the UK underground scene, from which he is known for his excitable nature, aggressive lyrics, love of word play and use of the phrases "hype" and "par". He is featured on "Hypest Hype" by Chase & Status and is a former member of east London-based grime crew Slew Dem. In 2015, Tempa T released the single, "Shell", produced by So Real Sounds, which reached number one for eight weeks in the UK Grime Chart show with DJ Cameo on BBC Radio 1xtra.

Tai Charles Carr, better known by his stage name Doughbeezy, is an American rapper from Houston, Texas. Active since 2010, he has released a number of mixtapes and collaborated with musicians such as Killa Kyleon, Bun B, Slim Thug, Devin The Dude, and Paul Wall. Doughbeezy won the “Best Rapper In Texas” competition three times, and in 2013 MTV Hive named him one of the "top 5 underground artists in Houston." A frequent live performer, he has toured with rappers such as Dom Kennedy, and is co-CEO of the music company Headwreckas Worldwide, along with company founder Al Hughes.

Adrian Harris, better known by his stage name Big H, is an English grime artist and rapper from Tottenham, London, United Kingdom.

Paweł Ryszard Mikołajuw, also known as Popek, Popek Monster and Król Albanii, is a Polish rapper and professional mixed martial arts fighter. In 2000, together with such rappers as Bosski Roman, Tadek, Pomidor and Kali founded the group Firma. Popek creates music from the border of dubstep, grime and gangsta rap.

Leonard Andrew Grimes was an African-American abolitionist and pastor. He served as a conductor of the Underground Railroad, including his efforts to free fugitive slave Anthony Burns captured in accordance with the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. After the Civil War began, Grimes petitioned for African-American enlistment. He then recruited soldiers for the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

Darq E Freaker is an English electronic music record producer and DJ from Peckham, London, England. He is best known for his work with and as a member of grime collective Nu Brand Flexxx. Freaker has released multiple EPs, most notably "Cherryade" on Oil Gang and "Blueberry" which featured Danny Brown. Freaker released 'Minger" on UK record label Numbers in June 2014.

Lex Johnson is a British designer, director and creative executive. He is the founder of creative agency DAZZLE SHIP, a former lecturer at Swedish design institute Hyper Island, and the founding online director of RWD magazine and RWD Forum.

Vector Meldrew is a British artist and creative executive. He was a former lecturer at the Swedish design institute Hyper Island, and the creator of grime website RWD Magazine, as well as the associated RWD Forum. He is an established crypto artist and has auctioned his work at Bonhams.
