CineMan Productions is an Indian film production and distribution company established by Abhishek Jain, Mikhil Musale, and Anish Shah. It was founded in 2010.

History

Abhishek Jain, Mikhil Musale and Anish Shah met during an international film festival in Ahmedabad and founded CineMan productions in 2010. [1] [2] However, Shah left the company later on. [3] The first film produced by the company was Jain's directorial debut, Kevi Rite Jaish . The production subsequently produced the 2014 film Bey Yaar . The productions also has produced advertisements for various brands such as Cinepolis among others. [4]

Collaboration with Phantom films

Abhishek Jain had approached Anurag Kashyap to produce Kevi Rite Jaish ; although Kashyap was impressed with the script, the collaboration did not work out for the film. [5] Later in February 2016, Abhishek Jain announced that CineMan will co-produce three Gujarati films with Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films, out of which one will be directed by Abhishek himself. [6] The first film to release under joint banner of CineMan productions and Phantom films was Wrong Side Raju , directed by Mikhil Musale. [7]

Streaming platform

CineMan Productions and Khushi Advertising launched Gujarati language streaming platform OHO Gujarati in May 2021. [8] [9] The first original show released on the platform was Vitthal Teedi, a drama series starring Pratik Gandhi and directed by Jain. [9]

The film is a satire on the fascination and obsession of the Patels' – a Gujarati farmer community – migration to the U.S. Over the last half century, thousands of Patels have migrated to the US and have come to dominate its motel industry. The film stars Divyang Thakkar, Veronica Kalpana-Gautam, Tejal Panchasara, Kenneth Desai, and Anang Desai. The success of the film started a "new wave" in Gujarati cinema.

It receibed positive reviews and became a box-office success. It completed 50 weeks in theatres. The film was screened at New York Indian Film Festival, becoming the first ever Gujarati film hosted by the festival.

After writing a television series Kabhie Kabhie (1997), Kashyap co-wrote Ram Gopal Varma's crime drama Satya (1998). He later wrote and directed a short television film, Last Train to Mahakali (1999), and made his feature film debut with the yet-unreleased film Paanch. Dhunki (transl. 'Trance') is a 2019 Indian Gujarati drama film directed by Anish Shah and produced by Kuldip Patel, Jay Shah, and Anish Shah himself under the banner of November Films. The film starring Pratik Gandhi, Deeksha Joshi, Vishal Shah, Kaushambi Bhatt, revolves around two partners, who face challenges to establish their startup company. It was released on 26 July 2019.

Mikhil Musale is a film director from India. In 2010, he founded the film production and distribution company, CineMan Productions, with Abhishek Jain and Anish Shah. Wrong Side Raju is his first film as a director and it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Gujarati at the 64th National Film Awards. In 2019, he debuted in the Bollywood film industry with Made in China, starring Rajkummar Rao, Boman Irani and Mouni Roy.

Vitthal Teedi is an Indian Gujarati-language drama web-series directed by Abhishek Jain. It is streamed on OHO Gujarati and stars Pratik Gandhi as the protagonist Vitthal Teedi. The first season, stylized as Chapter 1, was released on 7 May 2021. It was reviewed positively for performance, direction, production, music and script.
