The Kowloon–Canton Railway is a railway network in Hong Kong. It is owned, and was operated by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) until 2007. Rapid transit services, a light rail system and feeder bus routes within Hong Kong, and intercity passenger and freight train services to Mainland China on this network have since 2007 been operated by the MTR Corporation.
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation was established in 1982 under the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation Ordinance for the purposes of operating the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR), and to construct and operate other new railways. On 2 December 2007, the MTR Corporation Limited, another railway operator in Hong Kong, took over the operation of the KCR network under a 50-year service concession agreement, which can be extended. Under the service concession, KCRC retains ownership of the KCR network with the MTR Corporation Limited making annual payments to KCRC for the right to operate the network. The KCRC is wholly owned by the Government of Hong Kong and its activities are governed by the KCRC Ordinance as amended in 2007 by the Rail Merger Ordinance to enable the service concession agreement to be entered into with the MTR Corporation Limited.
The West Rail line is a rapid transit line that forms part of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. Coloured magenta on the MTR map, the line in its current form runs from Tuen Mun to Hung Hom, a total distance of 35.7 kilometres (22.2 mi), in 37 minutes. The railway connects the urban area of Kowloon and the new towns of Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun in the northwestern New Territories.
The East Rail line is one of eleven rapid transit lines of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. It used to be one of the three lines of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR) network. It was known as the KCR British Section (九廣鐵路英段) from 1910 to 1996, and the KCR East Rail (九廣東鐵) from 1996 to 2007. The East Rail was the only railway line of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) before the construction of KCR West Rail.
The Ma On Shan line was a rapid transit line that formed part of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. Coloured brown on the MTR map, the line acted as a branch of the East Rail line that connects the new towns of Sha Tin and Ma On Shan in the northeastern New Territories.
MTR Corporation Limited is a majority state-owned Hong Kong company listed on the Hong Kong Exchange and the OTC Markets Pink Sheets, and a component of Hang Seng Index. The MTR Corporation runs Hong Kong's eponymous Mass Transit Railway (MTR), and is also a major property developer and landlord in Hong Kong. The MTR additionally invests in railways across different parts in the world, including franchised contracts to operate rapid transit systems in London, Sweden, Beijing, Hangzhou, Macau, Shenzhen, Sydney, and a suburban rail system in Melbourne.
Kowloon Tong is a station on MTR's Kwun Tong line and East Rail line in New Kowloon, Hong Kong. The station serves Kowloon Tong and its vicinity, including Yau Yat Tsuen, the Festival Walk shopping centre, City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University.
Sha Tin, formerly known as Sha Tin Railway Station is a station on the East Rail line of Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system. The station is located in the town centre of Sha Tin.
Hung Hom, referred to by China Railway as Hong Kong Hung Hom since 1 April 2019, is an interchange station of the East Rail line and West Rail line in Hong Kong. It is Hong Kong's first station serving cross-border trains to Mainland China. Cross-border services to Beijing West, Shanghai, and Guangzhou East terminate here.
The Kowloon Southern link is a section of the MTR West Rail line, linking Nam Cheong station and East Tsim Sha Tsui station. The rail link is fully underground, lies along the south-west coastline of Kowloon Peninsula, east of rail tracks of the Tung Chung line and Airport Express. Kowloon Southern Link has one underground intermediate station called Austin station. It is located adjacent to the Canton Road Government Offices, close to Kowloon station of Tung Chung line and Airport Express. However, the structures do not provide a direct transfer between the two stations.
Austin is an underground MTR rapid transit station on the West Rail line in Hong Kong, situated perpendicular to Wui Cheung Road and Austin Road West, and formerly adjacent to Jordan Road Ferry Pier Bus Terminus.
East Kowloon line was one of the original five MTR lines proposed in the late 1970s in Hong Kong, which would have connected Sheung Wan with East Kowloon, eventually becoming part of the proposed Sha Tin to Central Link.

The Tuen Ma line is a rapid transit line that forms part of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. Coloured brown on the MTR map, the line in its current form, referred to as Tuen Ma Line Phase 1, runs from Kai Tak to Wu Kai Sha. When fully operational, the line will be 57 kilometres (35 mi) in length, making it the longest line of the entire MTR network. It will have a total of 27 stations, more than any other in the MTR system.
Hang Mei Tsuen is an MTR Light Rail stop. It is located at ground level at Ping Ha Road near Hang Mei Tsuen in Ping Shan, Yuen Long District. It began service on 10 January 1993 and belongs to Zone 4.
Tin Wing Stop is an MTR Light Rail stop. It is located at ground level beside Tin Shing Road in Tin Shui Wai Town Centre, Yuen Long District. It began service on 26 March 1995 and belongs to Zone 4.
Sun Yuen Long Centre is a private housing estate and shopping centre in Yuen Long, New Territories, Hong Kong, above Light Rail Yuen Long Terminal and next to MTR West Rail Yuen Long Station. Starting on 1 September 2015, the new replacement name is YOHO MALL II when at the same time opened a new shopping mall on the opposite called YOHO MALL I along Castle Peak Road. It consists of five 31-floor high-rise buildings developed in 1993 by Sun Hung Kai Properties and Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation.
Hong Kong's rail network mainly comprises public transport trains operated by the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC). The MTRC operates the metro network of Hong Kong and the commuter rail network connecting the northeastern and northwestern New Territories to the urban area. The operations of the territory's two leading railway companies, MTRC and the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), were merged in 2007 on grounds of economies of scale and cost effectiveness. The Hong Kong Government has an explicit stated transport policy of using the railway as its transport backbone.
