Colin Oates (born 7 June 1983 in Harold Wood, London) is an English former Judoka. [1] [2]
In 2011, Oates won a bronze medal in the 2011 European Championship defeating Pierre Duprat from France and finished fifth in the 2011 World Championship, losing to Musa Mogushkov from Russia in the bronze medal match. Securing qualification to his first Olympic Games in London.
Oates competed for Team GB in the 2012 London Olympics in the men's 66 kg judo event. [3] After victories over Australia's Ivo dos Santos and former World Champion Khashbaataryn Tsagaanbaatar Oates was beaten in the quarter-finals by the eventual gold medallist, Lasha Shavdatuashvili from Georgia, being pinned for 15 seconds during "golden score" overtime. He lost again in the repêchage to Cho Jun-Ho of South Korea, who went on to win the bronze medal. [4]
Colin became Commonwealth Champion in Glasgow (2014) at under 66 kg defeating Andreas Krassas in the final and two years later in 2016, he won a silver medal at the European Championships in Russia. After London Colin went on to add to his Grand Slam and Grand Prix medals including a Gold in the Baku Grand Slam in 2014 followed by a Silver the following year.
Between 2012 and 2016 he was ranked in the top 15 of the world, spending most of that period in the top ten of the world and qualified for his second Olympics in Rio 2016, where he went out in the round of 32. His final major tournament successes came in 2016 and 2017. Competing two weight groups higher than his usual fighting weight, at under 81 kilograms, Colin took gold in both the 2016 British Judo Championships and the English Senior Open. The 2016 victory was the fifth time that he was crowned champion of Great Britain, having previously won the British Judo Championships in 2007, 2012, 2013 and 2014. [5]
Colin has co-authored two judo books with his father Howard Oates.

Colin has a brother, David Oates, who is a writer and illustrator of children's books.

Alice Schlesinger is an Israeli-British retired judoka and sambo competitor. Born in Israel, she competed for that country until 2014, but following a dispute with the national federation she has started competing for Great Britain, of whom she is a citizen through her English-born mother.
Rafael Carlos da Silva is a Brazilian heavyweight judoka. He has two Olympic bronze medals in addition to having 4 individual medals in World Judo Championships, in addition to being a six-time Pan American Judo champion.

Ashley McKenzie is an England-born Jamaican judoka competing at the men's 60 kg division. He was a member of the Great Britain Olympic Judo Team at London 2012 but was defeated in the second round by Hiroaki Hiraoka of Japan. He also appeared in, and made it to the final of Celebrity Big Brother 10 in September 2012. In August 2018, he appeared on the first series of Celebs on the Farm. In January 2020, he appeared on Celebrity Ex on the Beach.
Clarisse Bogdanna Agbegnenou is a French judoka. Competing in the −63 kg weight division she won the European title in 2013, the world title in 2014, an Olympic silver medal in 2016, and an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in July 2021.
Natalie Powell is a Welsh judoka. She competed for Wales in the women's 78 kg event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she won a gold medal.
Sagi Aharon Muki is an Israeli half-middleweight judoka. Muki is the 2019 World Champion. He also won the 2015 and 2018 European championships.
Or "Ori" Sasson is a retired Israeli Olympic judoka. He won a bronze medal in the +100 kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympics and another one at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the second of two Israelis to win two Olympic medals.

Baruch Shmailov is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 66 kg weight category, and won a gold medal in the 2022 World Masters in Jerusalem. Shmailov also won a bronze in the 2017 World Masters, as well as a silver at the 2018 World Masters. As of December 2022, Shmailov is ranked #3 in -66 kg weight category. He competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics, finishing in fifth place.
Tohar Butbul is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 73 kg weight category, where he won silver medals at the 2019 Judo World Masters and the 2021 European Championships, and won bronze medals in the 2017 Paris Grand Slam and 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. As of March 2018 he was ranked #9 in the world in the U73 kg division. Butbul was a member of the Israeli team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Peter Paltchik is a Ukrainian-born Israeli judoka, competing in the under 100 kg weight category, of which he is the current number 1 ranked Judoka in the world. In September 2019 he won the Israeli championship in the 100+ Kg category. Paltchik won the gold medal at the 2020 European Judo Championships in Prague on November 21, 2020, beating Russian judoka Arman Adamian in the final, Adding to his bronze medal from the 2018 European Judo Championships in Tel Aviv. Paltchik also won a bronze medal in the mixed team judo competition in the 2021 Olympics.
Chelsie Giles is a British judoka. She won the gold medal in the women's 52 kg event at the 2022 European Judo Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria. She won one of the bronze medals in her event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Giles' medal was the first awarded to Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
