Colin Viljoen (born 20 June 1948) is a retired footballer who played in midfield for English teams Ipswich Town, Manchester City and Chelsea. Born in South Africa, he won two caps for England under manager Don Revie.

Biography

Born in Johannesburg, Viljoen was signed from the Johannesburg Rangers' Colts team by Ipswich in 1966. [1] He spent 12 years at Portman Road, playing 305 games and winning two caps for England, both coming in a four-day spell in May 1975. A goalless draw with Northern Ireland in Belfast was followed by a 2–2 draw with Wales at Wembley, both games in the Home International Championship. [2] Viljoen contributed to Ipswich's victorious 1977–78 FA Cup campaign, making four appearances and scoring twice during the run. [3] However, he was not part of the squad for the final itself. In 1978, he moved on to Manchester City before signing for Chelsea for £60,000 in 1980. [4] He was released by the club at the end of the 1981–82 season and signed for non-League Southall. [1]

Post-retirement life

After retiring, Viljoen bought and ran The Nine Styles pub in Uxbridge. [5] [6] He subsequently moved back to South Africa, first to Johannesburg, and then to Alberton, where he coaches youth football. [7] [8] [9]

Colin Barrett is an English former association football defender. He played 163 competitive senior games from 1972 to 1980 with Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Swindon Town. At Forest he was part of a team that won seven honours including the 1977–78 Football League First Division, the 1978–79 European Cup and the Football League Cup in both those seasons. The month after his 26th birthday and 10 days after scoring against Liverpool in the European Cup he damaged knee ligaments. He never fully recovered only playing 12 further competitive games in senior football. The last of those was in the same month as having turned 28.

Robin David Turner is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward. An England youth international, he began his career at Ipswich Town. After being part of the FA Youth Cup winning squad of 1973, he made his first-team debut in October 1975. Despite failing to become a first-team regular, he remained at the club until 1985 when he signed for Swansea City. He scored twice on his home debut for his new club, equalling the number of league goals that he had scored in nine seasons at Ipswich, but left later in the year to return to East Anglia when he signed for Colchester United. At the end of the 1985–86 season he dropped into non-League football with Bury Town.
