Colonial School District (Delaware)

The Colonial School District is a public school district in New Castle Hundred, Delaware. The district offices are located at 318 East Basin Road, in Wilmington Manor, with a New Castle postal address. [1] [2] The superintendent as of 2020 is Dr. Jeffrey Menzer, Ed. D.

In addition to New Castle and Wilmington Manor it includes Delaware City, Port Penn, St. Georges, portions of Wilmington, and half of Bear. [3] Of the four territorial school districts to serve Wilmington, Colonial is the only one which does not operate schools in the Wilmington city limits. [4]

The Baynard Boulevard Historic District is a national historic district located at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses 77 contributing buildings with examples of Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Queen Anne architecture. The area developed after being laid out in 1893, and is a prime example of a turn-of-the-20th-century American suburb, or "streetcar suburb." The dwellings date between 1895 and 1930. The district is predominantly residential. Also located in the district is the McCabe United Methodist Church, Beth Shalom Synagogue, Hanover Presbyterian Church, and No. 30 School.

Brandywine Village Historic District United States historic place

Brandywine Village Historic District is a national historic district located along Brandywine Creek at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It encompasses 12 contributing buildings, 7 contributing sites, and 2 contributing structures. Brandywine Village developed in the late-18th century as a group of flour mills, the homes of prosperous millers, mill workers, shop keepers and artisans. Located in the district are a set of mill owner built homes of granite. Notable buildings include the Gothic Revival style St. John's Episcopal Church (1857-1858) designed by noted Philadelphia architect John Notman, Brandywine Methodist Episcopal Church (1857), and Brandywine Academy (1798). In 1788, Brandywine Village was the site of the first mechanized mill designed by Oliver Evans.
