Consumed is the fourth studio album by Canadian electronic music producer Richie Hawtin, and his third studio album under the alias Plastikman. [3] It was released in 1998 by Minus and Novamute Records, [4] with the 11:40 minute title track widely considered both the album's peak and one of Hawtin's best works.
Consumed was recorded in The Building, Hawtin's studio since 1995. Most tracks were recorded live to 2-track DAT in a single take and edited down to album length. Equipment used included a Roland TR-909 (mainly as sequencer), Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer, Kawai XD-5 drum synthesizer, Akai S3000 sampler, Roland TB-303, and Serge modular. According to Hawtin,“Consumed is an album of feedback. Everything was cross‑modulating everything else.” [5]

The New York Times wrote: "The thumps and the pinglike sound of searching radar create a mood in Consumed that is oceanic and hypnotic yet hardly New Age: the tension is too thick." [10]
In a retrospective article, The A.V. Club called the album "a career highlight that stripped techno to a glacial pulse and the barren sounds of a boundless alien wasteland." [11] In 2018, Pitchfork placed Consumed at number 34 on its list of the 50 best albums of 1998. [12]

In April 2022, Hawtin and the pianist Chilly Gonzales released the album Consumed in Key, a reinterpretation of Consumed. [15] [16]
Richard "Richie" Hawtin is a British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ. He became involved with Detroit techno's second wave in the early 1990s, and has been a leading exponent of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. He became known for his recordings under the Plastikman and F.U.S.E. aliases. Under the latter, he released his debut album Dimension Intrusion (1993) as part of Warp's Artificial Intelligence series.
Acid techno, sometimes known generally as "acid", is a genre of techno that was derived from acid house and developed in Europe in the late 1980s to early 1990s. It saw younger artists apply the "squelching" synthesizer sound of Chicago acid house to harder-edged techno material.

In 2022 he released a rework of Plastikman’s minimal techno classic Consumed.

The tracks on Artifakts [bc] were originally produced by Hawtin for an unreleased album entitled Klinik that was intended to form a trilogy with his prior albums Sheet One and Musik. Hawtin ultimately scrapped Klinik and instead began work on Consumed. "bc" in the title is an acronym for "Before Consumed".

SUBPAC is a tactile audio system, designed and developed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The SUBPAC consists of a combination of tactile transducers, vibro-tactile membranes, electronics and textiles, designed to deliver a physical dimension of sound. SUBPAC is available in a wearable and seatback format. The device was intended to move music hardware technologies in this area past simple 'vibrating devices' to deliver a complex and nuanced experience, to create an accurate tactile representation of whatever audio input is used. EX is the sixth studio album by Canadian techno musician Richie Hawtin under his Plastikman moniker, the first studio album to be released under that name in 11 years, the last studio album being 2003's Closer. It was recorded in a single session on 16 November 2013 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. The album was announced on the Mute Records website as having a digital release on 10 June 2014 with a physical release following on the 15 July 2015. The album branding echoes the large LED obelisk used for visual effects during the live performance. It peaked at number 31 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
From My Mind to Yours is a 2015 studio album by Richie Hawtin. It was released through Plus 8 on 11 December 2015 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the record label. It features productions under Hawtin's own name and his aliases Plastikman, Robotman, Childsplay, F.U.S.E., 80xx, Circuit Breaker, and R.H.X. It peaked at number 20 on the UK Dance Albums Chart.
Pleasure is the fifth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Feist, released on 28 April 2017, through Universal Music Canada. Thematically, the album is said to explore "emotional limits ... loneliness, private ritual, secrets, shame, mounting pressures, disconnect, tenderness, rejection, care and the lack thereof." All of the songs on the album are actually raw takes, as Feist explained on her Twitter: "Our desire was to record that state without guile or go-to's and to pin the songs down with conviction and our straight up human bodies."

Released on 20 September 2019 on his Plus 8 records imprint, it consists of 16 heavily remixed tracks from three live performances during his 2019 CLOSE live tour. The set list includes tracks by Charlotte de Witte, Mental Resonance, Ricardo Garduno, Edit Select and Kaiserdisco.
