"Country Song" is a song by South African rock band Seether. It was released on March 8, 2011 as the lead single from their fifth studio album Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray . [1]
According to frontman Shaun Morgan, the track's title "got its name from the swampy verse riff". [2] On the band's official message board, Morgan explained the track's background, saying "in some ways I guess I was dealing with growing up and having to make better life choices. It's definitely not a country song, but we recorded the album in Nashville, and felt like it was a small homage to such a wonderful city." [2]
The video alternates between a boy playing with various dolls and action figures, and the band portraying the boy's actions. A girl later appears, and both play with the toys, creating an increasingly chaotic scene for the band. [3]

Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has been employing second guitarist Corey Lowery. Several notable guitarists like Corey's brother Clint and Troy McLawhorn have toured or recorded with the band, however, Shaun has recorded most guitar parts for the band's records.
Karma and Effect is the third studio album by South African rock band Seether. It was released on 24 May 2005 by Wind-up Records. It is the band's second and final album with guitarist Pat Callahan prior to his departure from the band in 2006.
