Christian I was a German noble and Scandinavian monarch under the Kalmar Union. He was king of Denmark (1448–1481),Norway (1450–1481) and Sweden (1457–1464). From 1460 to 1481,he was also duke of Schleswig and count of Holstein. He was the first king of the House of Oldenburg.
Frederick I was King of Denmark and Norway. He was the last Catholic monarch to reign over Denmark and Norway,when subsequent monarchs embraced Lutheranism after the Protestant Reformation. As king of Norway,Frederick is most remarkable in never having visited the country and was never crowned as such. Therefore,he was styled King of Denmark,the Vends and the Goths,elected King of Norway. Frederick's reign began the enduring tradition of calling kings of Denmark alternatively by the names Christian and Frederick.
Holstein is the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is the southern half of Schleswig-Holstein,the northernmost state of Germany.
The Duchy of Oldenburg named after its capital,the town of Oldenburg was a state in the north-west of present-day Germany. The Duchy of Saxe-Lauenburg,was a reichsfrei duchy that existed from 1296 to 1803 and again from 1814 to 1876 in the extreme southeast region of what is now Schleswig-Holstein. Its territorial center was in the modern district of Herzogtum Lauenburg and originally its eponymous capital was Lauenburg upon Elbe,though the capital moved to Ratzeburg in 1619.

Anthony I,Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst was a member of the House of Oldenburg and was the Imperial Count of the Counties of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst within the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. His parents were John V,Count of Oldenburg (1460-1525) and Anna of Anhalt-Zerbst.
The Treaty of Tsarskoye Selo also called (Mageskiftetraktakten) in Danish,was a territorial and dynastic treaty between the Russian Empire and Denmark–Norway. Signed on 1 June 1773,it transferred control of ducal Schleswig-Holstein to the Danish crown in return for Russian control of the County of Oldenburg and adjacent lands within the Holy Roman Empire. The treaty reduced the fragmentation of Danish territory and led to an alliance between Denmark–Norway and Russia that lasted into the Napoleonic Wars. It also made possible the construction of the Eider Canal,parts of which were later incorporated into the Kiel Canal.
