Damian Arthur Christopher Alleyne (born March 31, 1983) is a Barbadian former swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. [1] He is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), a varsity swimmer for the Georgia Bulldogs, and a graduate of Bolles School and the University of Georgia, with a major in business administration.

Alleyne made his official debut, as a 17-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He failed to advance into the succeeding rounds in any of his individual events, finishing twenty-seventh in the 200 m freestyle (1:52.75), and twenty-sixth in the 400 m freestyle (3:58.12). [2] [3]

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Alleyne maintained his program by qualifying for two swimming events. He cleared FINA B-standard entry times of 51.89 (100 m freestyle) and 1:53.19 (200 m freestyle) from the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. [4] [5] In the 200 m freestyle, Alleyne challenged seven other swimmers on the third heat, including fellow two-time Olympians Joshua Ilika Brenner of Mexico and Giancarlo Zolezzi of Chile. He edged out Algeria's Mahrez Mebarek to take a third spot and thirty-fourth overall by 0.11 of a second in 1:52.89. [6] [7] In his second event, 100 m freestyle, Alleyne placed forty-eighth overall on the morning's preliminaries. Swimming in heat three, Alleyne matched his entry time of 51.89 to save a fifth spot over Zolezzi's compatriot Max Schnettler by 0.02 of a second. [8] [9]

He is a two-time Olympian, a swimming captain for the Yale Bulldogs, and a graduate of sociology (2001) at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Gleason also capped his swimming career by an eleventh-place finish in the 200 m backstroke at the NCAA Swimming Championships in College Station, Texas, earning him All-American honors.

He challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including two-time Olympians Joshua Ilika Brenner of Mexico and Giancarlo Zolezzi of Chile. He raced to sixth place by three hundredths of a second (0.03) behind Algeria's Mahrez Mebarek in 1:53.03. Salabutau failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed thirty-seventh overall in the preliminaries.

Aytekin Mindan is a Turkish former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He held a Turkish record of 1:50.40 in the 200 m freestyle, until it was matched by Kemal Arda Gurdal in 2012. He studied at Istanbul Bilgi University.

Pavel Mikalaievich Lagoun is a Belarusian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a three-time medalist at the FINA World Cup.

Petr Vasiliev is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a top 16 finalist in the 200 m freestyle at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea.

Diego Mularoni is a Sammarinese former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a three-time Olympian, and a current Sammarinese record holder in the 100, 200, 400, and 1500 m freestyle since 2001. He has won a total of 13 medals at the Games of the Small States of Europe.
