Daniel Fitzhenry (born 8 December 1979) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s. He played for the Wests Tigers in the NRL and Hull Kingston Rovers in the Super League. He primarily played on the wing.

Playing career

Fitzhenry played Jersey Flegg for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and had spent a period playing with Limoux Rugby League in France before being injured in a car accident.^{[ citation needed ]}

After coming through the joint venture Wests Tigers' ranks with Western Suburbs, Fitzhenry made his début in the National Rugby League playing at centre in Round 14 of the 2002 NRL season against the Penrith Panthers at Leichhardt Oval.^{[ citation needed ]}

Fitzhenry played at fullback for several games in 2002. His versatility has seen him play off the bench, as hooker and once as halfback (2004 against Canterbury-Bankstown. Injuries to the club's first choice player Benji Marshall saw Fitzhenry used as a makeshift 5/8th at times.^{[ citation needed ]}

Fitzhenry was a member of Wests Tigers team that won the 2005 NRL Grand Final, defeating North Queensland 30–16. He scored a try in the 63rd minute to give Wests a 12-point lead. He also scored a try in the 2006 World Club Challenge which the Tigers lost to Bradford.

Fitzhenry held the record for the most tries scored by a player at the Wests Tigers, with 43, before being surpassed by Benji Marshall in 2010.^{[ citation needed ]}

In 2010, Fitzhenry returned to the Wests Tigers after two seasons playing with Hull Kingston Rovers.^[1] He played in 18 games during the season, but was often named as a reserve back, getting little time on the field.

At the end of the season, Fitzhenry retired from the NRL, signing a two-year contract to captain-coach Southcity in the Group 9 competition.^[2]^[3] He won a premiership in his first season with the club.^[4]^[5]^[6]

The Wests Tigers are an Australian professional rugby league football team, based in the Inner West and South West Sydney. They have competed in the National Rugby League (NRL) since being formed at the end of the 1999 NRL season as a joint-venture club between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. As a player, Sheens was a prop forward with Sydney's Penrith club in the 1970s and 1980s before he retired and became their coach.

Benjamin Quentin Marshall is a New Zealand professional rugby league coach and former player who is the head coach of the Wests Tigers in the NRL.

Shane Elford, is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a winger and centre in the 1990s and 2000s.

Liam Mark Fulton, also known by the nickname of "Bozo", is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He played for the Wests Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Fulton primarily played at lock. Considered to be a jokester, known for making prank phone calls, Fulton was also a noted clubman. Former team-mate Benji Marshall described him as, "not the biggest, he's not the strongest in the gym, he doesn't look athletic with his shirt off. He weighs only 96 kilograms. But he puts that body on the line every week, he makes his tackles and I have never played with a second-rower who runs a better line. He is so talented."

Ben Galea is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer. A City New South Wales representative forward, he previously played in Australasia's National Rugby League for the Balmain Tigers and the Wests Tigers and also for English club the Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull F.C. of Super League.

The 2006 Wests Tigers season was the seventh in the Wests Tigers joint-venture club's history. They competed in the National Rugby League's 2006 Telstra Premiership. They're based in based in the Inner West and Western Sydney.

The 2005 Wests Tigers season was the 6th in the joint-venture club's history. They competed in the NRL's 2005 Telstra Premiership, captained by Mark O'Neill and Scott Prince and coached by Tim Sheens. The Tigers finished the regular season in 4th position before reaching the 2005 NRL grand final, their first. After a Clive Churchill Medal-winning performance by Prince, Wests won and claimed their maiden premiership.

The 2010 NRL season consisted of 26 weekly regular season rounds, starting on 12 March and ending on 5 September, followed by four weeks of play-offs culminating in the grand final on 3 October.

Ava Seumanufagai is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for Leigh Leopards in the Betfred Super League. He previously played for the Wests Tigers, Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL and the Leeds Rhinos in the European Super League.
