Darlene S. Schuster is an American chemical engineer serving as the chief executive officer and executive director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers since 2022. She was the Clare Boothe Luce Chair and Professor of Chemical Engineering at Bucknell University.

Life

Schuster earned a B.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1990) in chemical engineering West Virginia University. [1] [2] She received a M.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. [1] Her dissertation was titled, The Influence of Powder Properties on Cyclone Efficiency Predictions. [3]

Schuster worked as a research engineer at Chevron Oil Field Research Company in La Habra, California. [4] She was later a senior engineer for Gulf Oil Production Research Company in Houston. [4] She joined Bucknell University in 1989 as a visiting assistant professor. [4] Schuster researched particle technology and data acquisition and control. [4] She also led research on the impacts of dust and coal particles on the lungs. [4] She later served as the Clare Boothe Luce Chair and Professor of Chemical Engineering. [1] In 2022, Schuster became the chief executive officer and executive director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. [1]

Claire Sandrine Jacqueline Adjiman is a professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

She is a professor and department chair in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
