David Bruce Dalgleish (born 13 October 1962) is a former Australian politician who served as the state member of Hervey Bay,a city councillor,and deputy mayor of the Fraser Coast region. Born in Epping,he was a licensed motor mechanic,welder and LPG fitter before entering politics,and owned a transport business. In 1998,he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland as a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation,representing the seat of Hervey Bay. He remained in the party until December 1999,when he and the other remaining One Nation MPs formed the City Country Alliance under the leadership of Bill Feldman. He was the Alliance spokesman for Emergency Services,Transport and Main Roads,Housing and Public Works. In 2001,he was defeated by Andrew McNamara of the Labor Party. [1]
Dalgleish was elected as one of 10 councillors for the newly created Fraser Coast Region in 2008,which was initially undivided. [2] He contested the newly created Division 6 in 2012,however was not successful. [3] He again contested Division 6 in 2020 and came second on first preference votes,however was ultimately unsuccessful once preferences were distributed,finishing the official count with 48.14%. [4]
At the 2013 federal election,Dalgleish contested the seat of Hinkler for the Australian Party,finishing fourth with 4.58% of the vote.
Hervey Bay is a city on the coast of the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland,Australia. The city is situated approximately 290 kilometres (180 mi) or 3½hours' highway drive north of the state capital,Brisbane. It is located on the bay of the same name open to the Coral Sea between the Queensland mainland and nearby Fraser Island. The local economy relies on tourism which is based primarily around whale watching in Platypus Bay to the north,ferry access to Fraser Island,accessible recreational fishing and boating and the natural north facing,calm beaches with wide undeveloped foreshore zones. In October 2019,Hervey Bay was named the First Whale Heritage Site in the world by the World Cetacean Alliance,for its commitment to and practices of sustainable whale and dolphin watching. A 2010 study by Deakin University showed that people on the Fraser Coast area including Hervey Bay,were the happiest in Australia. At June 2018,there were an estimated 54,674 people in Hervey Bay,having grown by an annual average of 1.31% year-on-year over the preceding five years.
The City Country Alliance was a short-lived Australian political party,operating exclusively in Queensland,that briefly held six Queensland state parliamentary seats. It was founded in the wake of Pauline Hanson's One Nation experiencing severe ructions in Queensland,the home state of founder Pauline Hanson.
An election was held in the Australian state of Queensland on 17 February 2001 to elect the 89 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. The result of the election was the return of the Labor Party (ALP) government of Premier Peter Beattie,with an increased majority. Labor won 66 seats,easily the most it has ever won in Queensland and one of Labor's best-ever results nationwide. There was a 10.07% swing towards Labor,while One Nation suffered a 13.98% swing against it,losing eight seats.

It was created in 2008 from a merger of the Cities of Maryborough and Hervey Bay and the Shires of Woocoo and most of Tiaro. In June 2018 it had a population of 105,463.

Daylight Saving for South East Queensland (DS4SEQ) was a political party in Queensland,Australia. It was a single-issue party,run by volunteers,that advocated the introduction of Daylight Saving into Queensland,or at the very least into South East Queensland under a dual-time zone arrangement - with the remainder of the state to maintain standard time. The party proposed a possible dual time zone,which included the following 15 local and regional government areas:Brisbane,Fraser Coast,Gold Coast,Goondiwindi,Gympie,Ipswich,Lockyer,Logan,Moreton Bay,Redland,Scenic Rim,Somerset,Southern Downs,Sunshine Coast,and Toowoomba. The party was officially registered with the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ) in December 2008 and was not registered with the Australian Electoral Commission. In August 2012,DS4SEQ submitted a request to the ECQ to deregister the party,and this process was finalised in October 2012. DS4SEQ maintains a presence as a lobby group and may potentially re-register as a political party in the future. Jason Furze was leader of the party from December 2008 until June 2011.
The Advance Australia Party,formerly the Building Australia Party,was a minor political party in Australia,advocating the rights of the building industry. First registered in New South Wales,it achieved federal registration in June 2010,but was deregistered in May 2015. However,the party was still active for several years afterwards on a state level,sending out candidates for the New South Wales Hills Shire Council and Mayoral elections in 2017. The Advance Australia Party was deregistered on 13 August 2019.

The 2020 Queensland state election was held on 31 October to elect all 93 members to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The Labor Party was returned to government for a third-term,led by incumbent premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. With 47 seats needed to form a majority government,Labor won 52 seats,including all but five in Brisbane,while the Liberal National Party won 34 seats and formed opposition. On the crossbench,Katter's Australian Party retained its 3 seats,the Queensland Greens picked up South Brisbane for a total of 2,Pauline Hanson's One Nation retained Mirani and independent Sandy Bolton retained her seat of Noosa.

He previously served as the first mayor of Whitsunday Region from 2008 to 2012,and mayor of the Shire of Bowen for 11 years from 1997 until its amalgamation with Whitsunday Shire in 2008. The seat of Hervey Bay has had two Australian Labor Party,a One Nation Party and a National Party/Liberal National Party members since its inception.
