David Darg is an American director and cinematographer. In 2011 he co-founded the media company RYOT with Bryn Mooser. He received critical praise for his documentary Body Team 12 which garnered him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at the 88th Academy Awards. [1]

Career

Darg is a graduate of Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy.[ attribution needed ] He was named one of Esquire Magazine's "2012 Americans of the Year" [2] for his work in Haiti as well as a "Hollywood Maverick" by Details magazine [3] for his documentary work in crisis and disaster zones. Darg is the co-founder of RYOT [4] - a US media company acquired by Verizon in 2016.

In 2015, Darg directed the first virtual reality film shot in a disaster zone. [5] That same year, Darg was commissioned by Apple to create a short documentary using the iPhone 6s ahead of the phone's release. [6] [7] [8]

Darg is also an Emmy winning editor having won in 2017 with Body Team 12 and nominated in 2018 with Fear Us Women.

Humanitarian Work

Darg spent over a decade as a humanitarian first responder and frontline contributor for Reuters, the BBC [10] and CNN, covering natural disasters and wars. He lived in China for 1 year following the 2008 Sichuan quake and lived in a Haiti for 2.5 years after the 2010 earthquake. He has traveled to over 100 countries with experience in cross sector humanitarian development and relief work alongside his position as Vice-president for International Response at Operation Blessing International.

Bryn Mooser is a filmmaker and entrepreneur. In 2012, Mooser co-founded RYOT, a media company specializing in documentary film, virtual/augmented reality and branded content. Over his career, he has produced more than 200 linear and immersive films garnering multiple Emmy Awards, two Oscar nominations, a Peabody and a Cannes Lion. Mooser sold RYOT to Verizon in 2016, becoming a senior vice president and helping create the roadmap for immersive and documentary films for AOL, Yahoo, and Verizon. While at Verizon, Mooser built the branded content studio for AOL/Yahoo, HuffPost and Tumblr.

Haiti: Where Did the Money Go? is a 2012 Film at Eleven Media production that was produced, written and directed by Michele Mitchell. Shot in the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the documentary looks at what really happens with the money donated to help with disaster aid. Haiti: Where Did The Money Go? aired on PBS and won the 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award for News Documentary.

Body Team 12 is a 2015 short-documentary film about the Red Cross workers of Liberia, who collected dead bodies during the height of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. The story is told by Garmai Sumo, a female worker who served as a nurse during the epidemic. It is directed by David Darg and produced by Darg and Bryn Mooser, while Olivia Wilde and Paul Allen of Vulcan Productions are executive producers.

OPPO R7s is a line of Android-based smartphone manufactured by Oppo that were released in October, 2015. OPPO R7 series has all-metal flashing, the fit and finish and the arcs towards its display edges. OPPO Company developed after OPPO R5s. However, the phone was discontinued with the release of more developed version like OPPO R15 and OPPO R17. The phone offers an improved screen, battery and design comparing to the previous phones. Reviewer had a mix review. Its design and battery quality were universally praised, also, its display received the positive feedback after tests. Reviews had both positive and negative comments, with no finger print sensor or face ID like Apple system. This would result insecurity of personal privacy.

The iPhone's hardware is designed by Apple Inc. Apple directly sub-contracts hardware production to external OEM companies, maintaining a high degree of control over the end product.
